GRAND FINAL TALENT COMPETITION – 16-20 Category
Abi Wilde – Good use of the stage and sung the song very well, but not sure on the song choice. You looked great but not sure if the look suited the song. Try and work on your nerves to bring more confidence to the performance.
Alix Muir – Cracking vocal with lovely control but remember to use that stage! You definitely put your own stamp on the song and your confidence was great. Just try and work on your connection with the audience a bit more, you can bring more emotion by eye contact and facial expression.
George Pelham – Great to see you perform with a smile on your face throughout. It was a very enchanting performance. Really liked your vocals and the quirky guitar skills. You just need to add a hook to the song to make it more rememberable and catchy. Nice performance.
Channy – One of Channy’s best performances in the competition to date. Dancers were great, but they did detract from focusing on Channy. Great connection to the song and lovely vocals, but you don’t need to the dancers.
Allessandria – Great start, well worked image and fantastic song choice you really went for it! On occasion you did push your vocals just a little too far and it did sound shouty. Be careful to keep control throughout the performance.
Georgina Dayer – Lovely performance, we enjoyed what you were trying to do, but it could have flowed a little better if the dynamics had been changed to build and drop to give more impact when required. More intensity on the keys could have achieved this too!
Bethany-Alex Higgins – Great vocal for the song but it did feel a bit dated and the performance needed a bit more personality in it. You’re a good singer, but you need to bring the fire and fierceness to the performance. Work the stage more and becareful with your mic control.
Grizzly Bailey – Grizzly’s ability to play keyboard so well and sing at the same time is impressive! Loved his voice, the performance and his uniqueness. There is a lovely sentiment to the original song and it is easy on the ear, but not sure if it is catchy enough to really stick in my head.
Cara Louise McEvoy – Superbly sung with really strong vocals, but perhaps you missed an opportunity to sing a song with your own spin on it. Remember to use that stage, but great performance.
Hayley Blatcher – A sensitive performance with your own twist, which was great. Would have set the keyboard player up a little further back to make you the main focus. Really enjoyed the arrangement, but it was quite theatrical. Great performance though.
Emilia – Worked it really well with the dancers incorporating them tastefully into your act performance. The mash up worked and was delivered well. You just need to focus on tidying up the vocals, develop those and you are going to start to make waves.
Imogen Rae – Liked the individuality with a strong song which has a good sentiment. You sound like Lucy Spraggan with a piano. Perhaps the only criticism is that it could have had a better hook to annoyingly stick in your head. Nice performance though.
Elise Dewitt – You used the stage well, and sung well but it needed to be more original, making the song your own. A different song choice really would have been better, as you didn’t convey the anger or emotion of the song. Work on your breathing technique.
GRAND FINAL TALENT COMPETITION – 16-20 Category
Jenny Bracey – Very talented girl, guitar work is solid and given the right song to break through you could be a big hit. The original song was well constructed, but you needed to get to the hook line faster and repeat it more. Great image and overall package, a really confident performer, well done!
Hollie Cooper – Great folk tone to your vocal. It sounded like an interesting tale the story had to say, but it was difficult to grip onto any hook or message which is what you will need to achieve for a hit single. Nice image, you are cute and likable and have great potential. Just give a bit more fire in your performance.
Jordan Bradley – You are a mesmerising performer, like a male GaGa! Loved the image, and the dynamics of the song is great, get that chorus in earlier though. You are clearly a very talented songwriter, and a very confident performer. Really enjoyable performance, well done.
j.o.e – Distinctive vocal and a good look. Liked the rap to break it up, but you could have put more of your own stamp on it. Work on your performance more to really engage with your audience, and really feel and connect with the song.
Morgane – Fantastic vocal no doubt but need to make it your own. It was too similar to the original, it needed a unique twist on it. A sincere performance none the less.
Ryanne Winning – Lovely song choice it really suited your vocal, and you really worked it well dynamically! You gave a convincing performance, but try and add more energy it was quite bland in parts and this is the Grand Final! Nice overall performance nonetheless.
Sarah Holburn – Your song is good, but you need to drive home the hook by extending the dynamics to give the chorus more impact. Really lovely voice and you had a great emotional connection to the song. Work on your confidence, because you don’t realise how good you are.
Six Days – Harmonies are excellent, very sensual and intense performance. You’re like The White Stripes of Bluegrass/Folk. Great song and haunting performance. You guys are certainly unique and entertaining!
Sophie DeBasttista – Sophie always gives a committed performance with her powerful vocal and individual style. You have a very unique sound and we can see your energetic and fun personality through your performance. You are very confident and we can see you are really enjoying yourself up there. Well done!
Sophie Williamson – Very comfortable and easily sung by Sophie, made the cover her own and a great performance! A really enjoyable performance, but be more confident! Loved the quirky individuality. I’d buy her album!
Tim Gallagher – Such a strong vocalist! Well constructed arrangement and song choice. A prime example of how to do a cover originally. Like the look and the confidence, a really enjoyable performance. Well done.
The Jems – Well rehearsed performance and song. Song is catchy, and engaging but a little repetitive. It was a little like Gwen Steffani at the end, but worked. The image could be worked on, but you looked like you all really enjoyed yourself!
Wildwood Kin – Great sound for a three piece! You have really strong harmonies and you work together so well. So engaging, better than The Staves! Best act of the day by far – you were fantastic and it really looked like you were enjoying yourself, which is great!
