Musician Judge

Roger has been involved in music most of his life and enjoyed singing as well as learning piano, clarinet & orchestral percussion in his early years. He joined various bands at University, playing drums and keyboards.  

Industry Judge

Roger has worked on many major UK festival sites & worked on tour with bands such Reef, The Charlatans, Moby & Sugar Ray. From 1999-2001 he worked with bands such as Slipknot, The Bee Gees, Showaddywaddy, Sting, Underworld, Robbie Williams, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Gomez, Gabrielle, Annie Lennox & even Sir Cliff Richard.

Recording Studio Judge

He established Cued Up Recording Studio in Coventry city centre 1993–1995. Roger acquired premises for what is now Born in a Barn Studio, Ansty 1995. These days it's mostly production which consumes his time.

Music Producer Judge

Roger is very into recording local bands and singers, BUT that's not all he does at the studio. Roger works with kids of all ages as well, often recording voice to backing track to help them progress to stage-school or for their voice-reels used to showcase a particular performance.

The studio has seen many top bands through its doors and some top producers including Jay Burnett (Beastie Boys) and Fiz Shapur (West End Productions) who have helped on various projects. In 2010 Tinie Tempah recorded in the studio.

Most styles can be accommodated from rock/pop/indie to dance/electronica and he has worked with choirs and marching bands. He also works closely with vocalists and is running singers masterclasses in collaboration with local vocal tutors. The studio is now into its 7th year.   

In 2011 Roger set up RantProd Music Production, a songwriting organisation to help young artists move off the karaoke ladder and have their own songs to promote themselves with.
