Sol Curry

Artist and Bristol Recording Studio Owner

Bristol Recording Studio Owner

Bristol recording studio owner Sol Curry has been heavily involved in the Bristol music scene for the past 12 years, both as an artist (lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, singer songwriter) and professionally, as the owner of Bristol recording studio and rehearsal facility, Factory Studios since 2003. Throughout this time he has built up a thorough knowledge of the local scene and crucially has developed a keen ear for what works and doesn’t work in a commercial context.

Bristol Recording Studio Judge

Open since 2004, the Bristol recording studio is housed in a 19th century mill building on a secure industrial estate on the edge of Bristol city centre. The building was originally converted into a studio during the early 1990’s when it was known as Channel House. Factory is a large 10 room rehearsal facility with a versatile digital recording studio comprising two live rooms, vocal booth and acoustically treated control room. Acoustically separated spaces allow artists to play together in the same room while achieving complete separation between recorded instruments.

Everyone from Portishead to Massive Attack used the Bristol recording studio. Years later, following a 5 year stint as the base for Roni Size and Full Cycle, Factory Studios took over in 2007. Featured artists also include Dub Mafia, Skindred and Turbowolf.
