This weekend the judges were in Hayes! Thousands of acts entered Open Mic UK this year and some of the best unsigned acts in the country took to the stage at the Beck Theatre in Hayes on 19.9.10. Here the judges give us some feedback from the event, but remember, it could all change at the Area Finals!

Under 18′s Feedback;
Eleni Christofi; Aimee; very good vocal. Anita; good powerful voice. Steve; would like to hear your own style develop.
Kershima Jones; Chris; got the audience going with a good choice of cover. Need to think about image on stage. Aimee; got the audience clapping. Steve; powerful vocals.
Becky Wixon; Steve; nice version of song but would like to hear your own song. Chris; very polished and improving every time we see her.
Enesa Berisha; Anita; lovely natural voice. Chris; very confident for someone so young don’t forget to perform as well. Aimee; talented but don’t get to perform!
Erris Major; Chris; strong voice could work on being more intense with the engagement. Steve; engaging vocal but needs to work on guitar skills. Aimee; both songs improved.
Holly Hamp; Chris; Good voice but performed a show number when perhaps something more contemporary would have been more appropriate. Aimee; don’t force your voice. Anita; brave performance and great enthusiasm.
Jessica Kirby; Steve; would have liked to have seen more movement around the stage. Chris; good eye contact but rooted to the spot therefore not expressing personality. Anita; lovely natural soprano.
Layla Ley; Chris; Worked the stage well with good expressing. Aimee; a confident strong performance. Steve; very impressed, best song so far!
Megan Doyle; Chris; Remember to engage directly to the audience and watch where you point the mic. Aimee; good performance. Steve; confident performance.
Monica Chanter; Chris; Good decision to have guitarist who was fab. Aimee; I liked the inclusion of the live guitar. Anita; work on the top of the voice, not too forced.
Nosa Eghobamien; Anita; difficult key choice for your vocal but you coped well. Chris; Over stretching her vocals. Aimee; a confident performance.
Oliver Mascarenhas; Chris; Lovely tone to his voice, performance looks awkward standing, lack of confidence maybe? Aimee; really nice voice and original track was confident. Steve; unexpected song choice but you had to like it.
Olivia Hinds; Chris; song was too big choosing Alicia Keys New York, would have been better to be more realistic. Aimee; think about the lyrics, don’t just sing them. Anita; brave attempt for popular song.
Sheema Khan; Steve; good cover choice and she owned the stage. Anita; choose a more melodic song next time. Chris; Good to see someone using the whole stage but use it purposefully and some pitching issues.
Lee-Anna Sadan; Chris; Maybe better if get’s someone in to play guitar parts and supports guitar parts rather than lead. Aimee; nice voice.
Roger Nonre; Anita; maybe think more about group style next time. Steve; I really liked it. Chris; Made the cover their own but could have expressed themselves better.
Rosie Alexander-Pennie; Chris; Image and song worked well. Anita; smoky jazz voice and one to watch. Steve; great song and very well delivered.
