Judges Feedback From The Aldershot Live Show, Under 18's Category
This weekend the judges were in Aldershot! Thousands of acts entered Open Mic UK this year and some of the best unsigned acts in the country took to the stage at the Princes Hall on 17.10.10 Here the judges give us some feedback from the event, but remember, it could all change at the Area Finals!
Please note: views expressed by Judges are opinions and in no way reflect the views of Open Mic UK.
Judges at Aldershot included Stuart Slater from Rock School, voice coach Peter Moody, Sam Enser from Rock Choir and musician Joe Karshud
Glenn Sandford; Always brave to open the show. Used the stage well and warmed into a great performance! Try and relax!
Nikita Butler; Voice suited the song choice, mostly well pitched. Would have benefitted from more attention to dynamics and control.
Charlotte Samuel; Brave choice to take the stage at such a slow tempo at 13 years old. Engagement and delivery puts some older performers to shame…Some pitch control issues at the end but should go through.
Brooke Ellen; Very brave song to choose – Power of Love. Great effort but lost your place a couple of times. Know your material!
Charli Simonis; Wow! Warmed into an engaging performance, with energy overall and well controlled pitching at high and low registers. Great personal interpretation of this Queen song. Well done!
Emma O Gorman; Looked nervous on stage but great signs of developing artist. Really liked the voice. Bags of potential!
Jack Mason; Another great potential with timing, accurate pitching and pitch control. Work on performance, use of stage and image?
Laura Jayne; Song dragged on a bit to be truthful! A bright opening but lost momentum. Nice voice and image.
Rhys Wilson; Great song choice. Stood out but try to avoid a drop in vocal volume when looking down at the keys. Also some rhythm slips when playing keys which detracted the performance. Maybe better suited to a backing track.
Siana; Great voice control and image. Performance could have been a little more lively but great star potential! Confidence with come with experience.
Sophie Plummer; Favourite Act of the day! Very individual choice of song and delivery. Well chosen to suit the voice, style and really interesting. Great use of dynamics. Some glitches but this was the only act in this show which held my complete attention all through….Well done!
Stephanie Hershaw; Technically excellent. If anything, performance could have been a little more engaging?
Grace McGuire; For an 11 year old performer on this stage, 10 out of 10! Great conviction in delivery but watch your diction. One to keep your eye on for the future.
Georgia Moss; Great sense of time, and attention to dynamics here. Maybe better suited to something a little more up tempo and work on performance and delivery. Watch the drop of power in your high register….
Olivia Dawson; Last act of the show but worth waiting for. What an opening! Caught the crowd with the right song at the right tempo, with great vocal slides! Deserves to go through…..
