Judges Feedback From The Manchester Live Show, 18 - 25's Category

This weekend the judges were in Manchester! Thousands of acts entered Open Mic UK this year and some of the best unsigned acts in the country took to the stage at the Willows on 24.10.10 Here the judges give us some feedback from the event, but remember, it could all change at the Area Finals!

Please note: views expressed by Judges are opinions and in no way reflect the views of Open Mic UK.

Judges at Manchester included Greg Morton, Jono Molloy, Gavin Ryder, Bob Young, Pete Bradshaw and Karen Corson.

Adam Smith; Bad choice to sit on stage. Liked the image, in keeping with the style of music. Very catchy and talented singer songwriter.

Kay-C; Good use of stage, audience in to performance. Not sure about backing track. Slightly shouty on the mic.

Hannah Hocking; Needs to improve image, good voice but would benefit from coaching. Hit the high note - well done.

Singing At Manuel; Faultless performance vocally and instrumentally. But image doesn't work.

Jane Sweeney; Excellent voice, but use the stage more.

Alex Christy; Better with backing track? Vocal didn't match the beat of the song, guitar needed tuning!

Amy Taylor; Struggled with breathing which affected singing voice, karaoke performance. Great image though.

Bethany Heywood; Strong vocals and good energy. At times, reminiscent of Jo Cocker. Powerful voice, but couldn't always understand what was being sung.

Busker One; First song didn't work. Found guitar louder than vocals at time, vocals have potential but need work.

Jonny Hands; First song didn't work. Good performance overall, vocals need some work as they were shouty at times.

Julia Mosley; Good vocal technique, would be better with backing track. Good image, a bit quivery on hitting those high notes.

Katie Bunting; Use the stage, don't hide behind the mic stand. Backing track bit too loud for voice, good image but just work on mic control.

Mary-Jane West; Had my feet tapping. Fantastic performance, image needs to be worked on.

Michael Tremble; Strong vocal, looks good but needs more of a performance to engage audience.

Samantha Rose; Need to not sit down on stage, good original material. First song choice felt kind of rushed.

Sarah Dixon; Needs vocal work but good effort. Good original choice of cover.

Misfits Music; Sound performance, great image, rehearsal of performance payed off. Very unique image.

Stuart Hamilton; Looked like a pop star but would have been good to see more movement.

Killy; Good vocals but not so keen on image. Strong vocals.

Scott Binns; Made contact with the audience, tight performance. Bit too much of a copied performance but great rapping, would have been great to see a female artist join the song.

Davina Hex; Vocals need work as does guitar skills. Good effort. Nice choice of cover, vocals shaken on high notes.
