Talent Competition Manchester - Industry Feedback for singers at Open Mic UK Manchester auditions
Talent competition in Manchester, Open mic UK, has provided Industry feedback for singers at Manchester auditions. Signing auditions began in Manchester last weekend with more than 300 coming through the doors to sing in front of industry experts. Judges included vocal coaches, music journalists and A&R managers. The talent competition feedback on selected acts can be seen below.

The feedback is selective and not provided for all audition acts. The judges have selected to give feedback to the acts that stood out for the right, or wrong reasons.
Talent Competition Manchester Feedback
Abby H – Pleasant voice, but Needs more performance and belief. Maybe could have warmed up voice more.
Mikki Redhead- Nice original style and voice. Good performance to judges.
Victoria Haslam – Work on projecting voice. Looked a little nervous, but got better as she went along.
George Jones – Work on putting more passion into the performance and perform to the audience/judges. Very basic song.
Declan O’Gara – Not a great song choice for accapella. Could have warmed up his voice more.
Sophie C – Confident performance. Hit the notes. All good.
Becky Dee – Work on changing key at important moments in the song.
Katy Cotterell – Nicer once she put her soul into it. Verses needed more energy. Good image.
Millie Pye - Very confident performance, good voice projection, good image. Nice song.
Jodie Brighty – Has a good voice but work on honing an original style.
Danny Price – Strong voice but work on controlling it. Work on subtle notes.
Scott Binns – Good performance, tight rapping. Make sure you work the stage if you progress.
Kirsty Teadale – Strong voice, work on originality and perhaps try and look more edgy in your image.
Amy Danson – Great image. Nerves got the better. Should have more confidence she has a great voice.
Pretty Girl Rock – Work on harmonies and there’s something there.
Kris Davis – Strong voice and good performance. Work on your own style though.
Abbie Goodwin – Made the cover her own. More energy in her performance needed.
Emma France – Nice voice needs more originality and performance though.
Borito – good original could be more convincing in his delivery.
Martin Marshall – Nice playing would have liked to hear something that challenged his voice more. All a bit one layered.
Claudia Alleney – Good original style and song choice. Needs to work her voice though and push it further.
Lucy Borgen – Think about performance as well as your voice. Needs to do more to stand out.
BidderZ BidloW – Always get through missed vocals, we probably wouldn’t notice. Timings not bad voice needs to have more levels to it.
Penny Evans – Lovely voice but really need to be a natural at finding key.
Abdul Yussuff – Project your voice more. Good image needs to believe in what he’s doing.
Ruth Kelly – All on one level needs to be more expansive.
Kirsty Barrer – Belting voice.
David Strickleton – Nice but be careful not to let the guitar to overpower your vocals.
Zoe McMahon – Think about putting a performance on and entertaining the judges/audience. A bit flat at times needs to have more belief in her voice.
Namiah T – More projection needed. Some soul in there but all a little quiet and understated.
Martin Duxbury – Think about your image more when going to audition. More performance needed.
Natalie B – Nice voice but odd choice of song.
Avec L’amour – Good singing. The two girls on the end need to work on giving more passion.
Jada – Good delivery and a nice voice.
Marianne – Try to make eye contact and look more involved in the song.
Astrid Harris – It felt like a very rushed performance. Relax and take your time.
Megan Clayton – Wooden delivery and poor projection. Needs work.

Georgia & Rebecca – Liked the way they enjoyed the performance.
Walking Daydream – Nice harmonies but no presence.
Rhiannon Hill – Great personality and good stage presence. Nice voice, good image and one of the best so far.
Harriet – Good voice but work on body language and delivery.
Emma France – Work on presence and body language. It’s not just about voice.
Hannah – Nice image, great delivery and lovely voice.
Claudia – Very original cover good voice and good image.
Jess – Liked the emotion in the voice but not very original.
Lorraine – Original cover but nothing memorable.
Simon Bond – Great voice, nice range.
Joanne – Good voice, nice image. Good song but could be more original.
Nomai – Very cool and soulful but need to project your voice more.
Michael Platt – Needs to relax more and open his eyes. Pretty confident.
Amy Nicole – Sounds American. Needs to work on that.
Domenica Smithies – Good start. Confident.
John Dempsey – Nice strong attitude. Catchy. Well done.
Helen Barker – Little rushed but delivered well.
Lucinda, Georgia & Rebecca – Great look. Liked the delivery. It works well.
Paul Hollingsworth – Good voice but keep your eyes open and focus on something in the room.
Charlie and Charlotte – Good image and strong output.
Rosie Plummer – Strong. Good image.
Jessica Harwood – Image is great. Voice is OK. Guitar seemed out of tune.
Darren – Strong and clear.
Donna Taylor – Nice image and good song choice. Keep it upbeat though.
Hip Hop Disciples – Worked together great.
Abdullah – Need to push your voice out. Too soft.
Amy Brooks – Shouting! Need to be a little softer.
Natalie Bessaad – Breathy. Pushing to much air.
Jada Reid – Want to hear more top notes.
Sophie Clark – Need to develop your chest voice.
North Point – Needs much more rehearsal.
Megan Jenkins – The song is too big for you. You need to develop your range.
Beckiie Dee – Larynx is very high.
Victoria Haslam – Nice but not sure the song is appropriate for your age.
Jordan Madani - Tone is nasal in places due to high larynx.
Georgia Babrahani – Don’t push so hard on the voice, it’s damaging.
Caroline Eve – Your performance comes across quite aggressive.
Sara Davison – Need to develop a chest voice for depth of tone.
Noah – Singing with a high larynx which is why the voice broke.
Harry David – Open your eyes otherwise we can’t connect.
Kayleigh LeMay – Watch it doesn’t get too shouty.
Sean Chriscole – Not the right song for the competition.
Kathryn Thomas – Your vowels are pulling too wide in places.
Hussain Muhammad– Need to develop more strength in your voice.
Carl Martin– Watch the volume of the guitar isn’t so loud. We couldn’t hear your voice.
Zoe – You changed key halfway through. No performance.
Allanah – Singing with no cord closure which makes it harder to control.
Samantha Rimmer – Need to develop more strength in your voice.
Jade Crawford – Watch it doesn’t get shouty.
Romanie – Don’t try to do so many effects. We want to hear the song!
Penny Mac – Good performance just need the right style for the competition.
Tom Fearon – Nice song just watch you keep your eyes open.
Eastwood – Harmonies need working on.
Stephanie Crook – Good song choice just watch you don’t yell the higher notes.
Eli Cripps – Need to develop strength in your upper range.
Phia – Nice vocal. Try to avoid Adele songs though they’re so overdone!
