Music Contests Wales - Feedback for 17-22 Category Singers
Karl Lovell- Nice voice and easy going personality. Good opening performance.
Lewis Parsons- Split the judges. Clear ability but been done before. Try and find an angle….
Mellissa Lewellyn- Secure and could do well in this genre. Would benefit from a commercial edge to move to the next level. (Nice to see some good use of the mic)
New Heights- Interesting and enjoyed this…the girl vocalist looked a little out of her depth (a little overawed maybe?) but enough to go through today. Well done.
Sherisse- Warmed into the task but didn’t quite reach her potential. Voice is good (and natural) but watch image. Good link between tracks – polished in this respect.
Alice Christopher- Powerful singer – would be interested to hear a wider repertoire. Work on image and stagecraft but good potential here.
Amy Bridges- Great song choice! You warmed into this and a real sense of ‘performance’ came through. Voice will get richer with age and become more soulful. Another great potential with guidance.
Music Contests Wales – Further Feedback
Bethan Searle- Brave vocal placement / jumping in the opening bars but it did not quite come off and further pitching issues as the performance progressed. Good attention to image, but some technical work required.
Realm- The new Proclaimers! Very saleable and likeable. Watch the slickness of the link between tracks (more polish required chaps) but commercially strong.
Charlie Michael- This began well, with control and poise, but became less convincing. Some vocal coaching required. Stick at it – definitely something there…
Deano- Great voice and imaginative phrasing / sync with backing. Enjoyed this! Try however to be more individual. You could do really well with material which suits ‘you’.
Krystal Mills- Sang well but somehow lacked dynamic shape and sense of phrasing. Comfortable and honest but needs an edge.
Emma Love- A strong act here. Good image, control, poise and commercial potential. Try however to use the whole stage – its there for you to give a show stopping performance – take advantage of it…!
Mykal Max- Fantastic original. Catchy. Nice lyrics. Work though on your breathing technique when rapping. Good performance – kept your nerve together.
Ruby Kate- Nice vocal but song choice a bit overdone. Try also to connect more with the audience – performance a little nervous and static but all this said, keep trying. You did not get close to your potential.
Sarah Louise- Well delivered and powerful. One of the better acts in this show.
Tobias Robertson- Different guitar style which was quite refreshing. Lovely tone. Good potential.
The guest act for the day was Hatty Keane, who treated the crowds to brilliant performances of her upbeat and original music.
