South Yorkshire Music Competition – Industry Feedback for 16 and under category singers

Anya Lily – Nice vocal nice tone which grew as the performance went on, need to use the stage and try to connect with audience by using better eye contact and expression but a well presented sassy style.

Davis Allpress – A few things to work on: mic control, pitch and performing. Keep the mic close to your mouth the volume became very inconsistent. Nice interaction and definitely got better as he relaxed into the performance. Need a bit more attitude.

Fifth sense – Routine, choreography and starting position was excellent. Vocally the arrangement was too crowded and needed to sing less of the same parts as a result sounded messy needed more dynamics in the harmonies.

Isobel Hague – Good expression and has a lot of potential but vocal is suffering with tuning issues. Need to be pitch perfect to back up the strong voice. Also look to work on stage presence.

Riya Palit – Nice rasp to the vocal but nerves seemed to affect the vocal remember breathing. Perform more to gain more experience and more confidence.

Sanita Sandhu – Good engagement, with a beautiful pure controlled voice, very static performance take the mic of the stand, wander to use that stage and engage with all the audience.

Sherry-Lea – Doing a sultry number need to really connect with the song not so sure you really achieved that. Styling was good but spoilt by a very awkward finish need to work on performance from start to the very end.

Angelika – Made the song her own and good use of the live instruments with a full sound. Nice dynamic with instruments and engagement together with performers on stage was good.

Bethany Brewer – Did move around but lacked purpose also vocal suffered with pitch issues. Good engagement with the audience with a captivating performance but if going to sing theatre you have to own it and act it more.

Beth Barlow – Vocally one of the best today with an unique voice need to work on the performance to be a bit more polished.

South Yorkshire Music Competition – Further Feedback

Chloe Dent – Lovely voice would have liked to have seen her do something more contemporary. Worked the stage well and expressed the song very well.

Hannah Suraya – Nice song choice and looked like she loved performing. Just don’t over tighten in the face look to perform in front of the mirror to improve and make use of the stage more.

Imani – Good change up with the second song choice, showed good versatility, image was strong, just need to give the performance more purpose.

Isi Dee – Started off a little quickly but settled. Cover was a good choice to lead into her own song complimented each other well bringing good emotion to the song.

Mitchell Smith – You have a good voice need to learn to act confident as looked nervy in the eyes but vocally held firm.

Liv Ysanne – Loved the shoes and image. Used the stage well with purpose and a well worked out performance. Watch pitch towards the tail end of the notes in places.

Nancy Petulengro – The original was strong, both songs where performed with a belting vocal, guitar work could have been more exciting.

Rebecca Molloy – Very accomplished performance, extremely comfortable with a hard song to sing just watch the pitch in places but huge potential.

The guest act for the day was Lucy Spraggan who gave the crowds great performances of her original music.
