Unsigned Music Bedford- Industry Feedback for 16 and under Category singers at Open Mic UK Bedford Regional Final

Unsigned music in Bedford has been discovered by Open Mic UK music competition as singers took to the stage last weekend. The music competition has provided industry feedback for the best unsigned musicians in the region.

Successful auditionees in Bedford performed at The Corn Exchange in front of a large crowd and the Open Mic UK industry experts. Judges included vocal coaches, music journalists and A&R managers. The singing competition feedback on selected acts can be seen below.

Judging the unsigned music in Bedford were Dutch Van Spall from Big Help Management, Fred Waller of Planet Secklow Music, David Preston from The Cowshed Recording studio, vocal coaching experts Sammi Vaughan and Nicky Newman and Head of A&R at Future Music Ben Price.

Unsigned Music Bedford Feedback – 16 and under category

Drew Rice – Great image. Put In more performance and really feel the song though. More live work will help with your confidence and craft skills. Good original song.

Lizzy HardinghamGuitar playing a bit basic. Could have chosen a better song. You have a gorgeous freedom in your voice. Interesting and stunning performance.

Montel Ferguson – Rehearse more you didn’t seem too familiar with the song. A lack of control caused some pitching problems. Good dance moves but needed to work the crowd more.

Sullivan FrazerA few tuning issues. Needs to work the stage more. Vocals would benefit from coaching a more technical work. Big tone but accuracy not so big.

Chelsea – Instant attitude. A great meaningful performance. Just a little improvement and she’ll be amazing. Excellent! Total commitment to the song you owned the stage.

Emma SeamarksFantastic performance. You are a really convincing performer. Work the stage more though. Good control and plenty of power in her voice.

Alice King – Looked a little nervous. Pretty dress and nice ‘flower-girl’ look. Lots of character in her voice but needs more oomph! A talented performer in time.

livziEmGood choice of song but Helen Shapiro songs are difficult to sing. Your voice is very good though, great performance. Could have put more work into style and image.

Paris Georgia – Strong look and image. More rock needed. Amazing individual singing ability, very good. Stay in the moment and don’t lose focus. Awesome!

DisctractedGorgeous harmonies. Just amazing. Liked the mash up. Needs more performance and originality in vocal style. Careful of those American accents be yourselves.

Megan Massey – More performance needed. Feel the song and work the crowd. Great outfit. Keep going, keep performing and developing your skills and confidence. Sweet voice.

Natalie Good – Great look and good voice. Work on your performance and start using more of the stage. Nice tone to voice but a little bit static on stage. Brilliant singing.

Ellen Mae – Superb song choice and brilliantly sung. Coherent sound and image. Would have liked to have seen more expression in your face. Good powerful vocal.

Grace Kelly – Interesting song choice. Vocals were nearly bang on the money. Lots of potential. Picked the perfect song to match her vocals. Keep working on your stagecraft.

Katie Marshall – Big song for a small girl. You did very well. Keep singing and developing that lovely voice. Work on controlling your nerves as well.

Unsigned Music Bedford – Further Feedback

Leah and Roberta – Lost momentum a bit in places. Good tone in the low harmonies. Technically good but more work needed on stage presence. Great original spin on the song.

Maddie Rowland – Good stage presence Maddie. You have a lovely voice but need to make more of the higher range. More performance experience will help with nerves.

Sophie Vidal – A difficult song to attempt. Vocal coaching will help with more ambitious vocal runs. Lots of potential but more control needed at times.

MatalexNeed to engage more with the audience and give more performance. Nice original song. Keep going and developing you stage skills. Time is on your side.

Vishmi JayawardeneLovely voice but struggled with the key of the song. Backing track sounded a bit awkward. Pretty girl. Keep going and develop your skills.

Olivia Carter – Needs a better arrangement. Nice idea but the execution not quite there. Good in places but strained in others. Good eye contact with the audience.

Zuzia Briggs – You are such a passionate performer. Don’t ever lose that. Backing dancers needed to be more rehearsed but it was a nice idea.

Ellie Sampson – Seemed very nervous. You have a lovely voice but we would have liked to have seen more of a performance from you. It just needed more oomph!

Abigail Hunt -  Awesome strong voice. Need to engage more with the audience with more eye-contact. Good stage presence and confidence for one so young.

The guest act for the day was Hatty Keane, who treated the crowds to brilliant performances of her original upbeat music.
