Birmingham Auditions: At Open Mic UK we provide music industry feedback to all acts that perform in our shows. Below is feedback for acts from the Birmingham Music contest. Birmingham Auditions - Feedback

Elle Kay – You have a nice voice! You seemed to be a little nervous and maybe as a result, came across not as well as you should.  Remember first impressions are important! So smile and be positive! This will improve your performance massively.  Click here with ways you can calm your nerves.

Sianne Pamar – Think about your song choice and try and pick a song less obvious. An Adele song is always going to be a big challenge! Song choice was also too big for you so until develop look to pick songs more in your comfortable range. Click here for some tips on the right song choices.  Vocally, watch your timing and look to implement some performance and expression. 

Isabella Keeling – Lovely first impression with a super smile! A very uplifting performance, you engaged well with your audience. Click here for the importance of your audience engagement.  You have confidence beyond your years!

Libby Kaye – Nice song choice! You sung very softly; you would benefit from singing lessons to build up your projection. Click here for why a singing teacher could be very beneficial for you. It’s great to see you are starting so young and you have the confidence to audition. Potential is there but you will need to focus on developing your talent. 

Birmingham Auditions – Singer’s Feedback

Seren Laverack – Good expression during your performance! You need to control your nerves, as they came out in your vocals. More performances and practise will develop your confidence and therefore improve your singing ability. Click here with ways you can calm your nerves.

Nicole Sherwood – You were very confident and your performance was very impressive! Your voice has a powerful projection and you kept eye contact, which meant you engaged well with your audience. Click here for more information on eye contact.

Antonia – Good focus and good presence. You need to look at performing even more to perfect your voice. Try using your hands and body to express the emotion in the song. Click here for tips on improving your stage performance

Isabella Giorgia-Jones – Fantastic performance! You have bags of potential! Look to use your body and hand gestures to convey the emotion in the song even more. Click here for tips on improving your stage performance.  Great use of dynamics to bring the song alive. 

Tegan Noris – Good control of your vocal and a confident performance! Look to bring more expression to your performance.  Click here for more on how to sing with emotion. Even though it’s an audition, you don’t have to be rooted to the spot. Try adding some movement to your performance.

Birmingham Auditions – Feedback

Lucy Travers – Don’t sacrifice control for power! You did however use the power well in delivering the emotions of the song. Click here for the importance of vocal dynamics. Also pay more attention to your low notes, if not more than the high notes. Controlling these will massively improve your performance.

James Greenhill – Great to hear you bringing your own twist to a cover! Click here for more on choosing the right audition song. Look to use eye contact; you are looking down too much at your playing rather than engaging us, your audience. Click here for more information on eye contact

Saisha Maynard – It’s important to warm up before your audition, so you are ready to hit that first note at the start of your performance. Click here for some singing warm ups that would be beneficial for your singing. Look to use your eyes more to connect with your audience, you had your eyes closed throughout the performance. Birmingham Auditions – Feedback

William Keay – You have a good poker face; you need to express the emotion of the lyrics when performing a song.  Click here for more on how to sing with emotion. During your performance, try not to be stable. Use movement and own the stage to show us your personality! Click here for tips on improving your stage performance.

Jordan Taylor – Your song choice had quite a long intro; you need to hook your audience early to get us drawn to your performance and song. Overall your eye contact was poor.  You need to give us eye contact so that your audience can connect to your music. Click here for the importance of eye contact.

Demi – Overall your song choice was nice, but perhaps a little simplistic instrumentally. It had a good chorus which you should look to make more of the vocal hook. Remember to fully warm up before performing so it’s a more comfortable when you hit the high notes. Click here for some singing warm ups that would be beneficial for your performance.

Julie Rose – You have a nice voice! You need to start writing your own songs if you want to develop you’re singing to more than a hobby. It will help further your singing career. During your performance remember to use eye contact to connect to your audience. Click here for the importance of eye contact. Good movement and performance with a super smile!

Anita Jhali – You need to come into an audition having learned the lyrics. The performance is very limited with you singing the lyrics from the phone. Practice and learn the song. When we say practice; practice so you cannot get it wrong! Click here for some tips on the audition

Sara Khan – You have a nice voice, you would benefit from singing lessons to be even better! They will be able to strengthen your projection, tone and range. Click here for the benefit of singing lessons.

Roger Valentine - You have a nice voice but you need to be writing your own songs if you want to develop your singing to more than a hobby. You have the potential to go far! You have a good voice but remember to fully warm up before performing so it’s a more comfortable when you want to hit the power notes. Ifzal Hussion - You have a nice voice but you need to be writing your own songs if you want to develop your singing to more than a hobby.  Click here for some tips on song writing. Amanda Roche – Good intensity! Maybe consider changing up your vocal dynamics. Click here for more on vocal dynamics and the importance of them to drive through the hook of a song.
