Brighton Auditions:  At Open Mic UK we provide music industry feedback to all acts that perform in our shows. Below is feedback for acts from the Brighton Music contest that took place at The Old Market, Brighton. Brighton Auditions - Singing Feedback

Lizzy Woolmer – You have a lovely commercial tone. A nervy start, which meant your chorus sounded shaky at times. Click here with tips to help you how to calm nerves. Always consider warming up your vocal to demonstrate your vocals at your best especially if you’re singing a demanding song. Click here for some singing warm ups that would be beneficial for your performance.

Erin Bloomer – Lovely warmth and rasp to your vocal. A real cool vibe and tempo. We need to see more of a performance from you. Look to work on eye contact to connect more to your audience - at times, you were looking down. This meant you lost the engagement of your audience. click here for the importance of audience engagement and eye contact. These will help improve your overall performance. 

Cameron Nisbet – You had great energy! Look to perform as much as you can so your performance so your more confident - you will feel more relaxed. You are a natural performer! Be careful not to overcook the performance and consider looking to rein it in so the performance is not over the top. This way you can also focus more on your vocals. Dia Buszman – You have a powerful vocal and held good eye contact with your audience! Watch your control, a good singing teacher will assist you to keep control of your vocals. Click here for the benefits of singing lessons. If you make a mistake, never stop during a performance, it highlights the mistake. If you carry on, we could have missed it altogether. 

Stella Blows – You have great potential! Think about what you are doing with your hands, you looked awkward and your body language is a key to convey the emotion in the song. Brighton Auditions – Singer’s Feedback

Natasha Cullen – Song choice is so important and doing a popular song means you are always going to be compared to the original! Singing a less popular song, or your own song would be more appropriate for your vocals. Click here for the importance of song choices. You had a super vocal but looked nervous, more performance will grow the confidence as you have great potential.

Carl Parsons – Nice tone and powerful projection! Just watch you control. Look to work more on eye contact to connect more to your audience as you are looking up way too much. Megan Kimber – You have a sweet tone and super control. Song choice is so important and doing a popular song means you are always going to be compared to the original. Consider being more original click here for more on performing a creative cover.  Start believing in yourself as you have great potential!

Carnivale – Nice rasp to your vocal and powerful committed guitar playing! Your performance lacked emotion. It’s important to convey the emotion in the song and use all the tools at your disposal to convey it. Click here for the importance of an emotional connection. Look to also connect with each other as performers; so reach out to each other. Look to work more on eye contact to connect more to your audience as you are looking up way too much. Guo Yao Yo – Nice control and strong projection which filled the room. We liked that you offered us something different. Look to work on your presentation - think like a star and dress like one! Click here for more tips on finding an image as a musician and that all important impression.

Alesha MacDonald – You have a lovely voice and a great variant of vocals! Would liked to feel more emotional connection with the song. Look to embrace the hope and optimism within a song and not just the pain. Click here for the importance of an emotional connection

Sam Burgess – Nice vocal and lovely control! We’d like to see more of you as an artist - it felt a bit dated as a performance. Click here for more on performing a creative cover. Overall we enjoyed your performance.

Simon Studd – Very smartly presented and a committed and power vocal. Look to work more on eye contact to connect more to your audience as you are looking up too much. Song choice is so important and doing a popular song means you are always going to be compared to the original. Although you did it very well it’s still almost impossible to match.
