Priority acts at the Brighton music auditions received feedback from industry judges

Below is feedback for acts from the Brighton Music contest that took place at The Old Market. Brighton Music Auditions – Priority Acts Feedback
Claudia Buszman – Good rasp to you vocal and you committed well to the performance. Remember your eye contact is a key way for you to connect to your audience, click here for the importance of singing with emotion. Capturing the emotion will help with your connection to the song and also the audience.
Macie Hinchelwood – Really good tone which filled the room with good volume. Song choice suited your tone very well; click here for advice on performing a creative cover. Good eye contact which helped you to connect to your audience well.
Izzy Jobson – Quite a static performance so look to give more expression with your body, arms and in the face, click here for more on singing with facial expressions. Good projection to your vocal, also think about varying the tone and dynamics, click here for advice on singing dynamics. Also practice and practice even more so the lyrics are just second nature as you lost focus on the lyrics on a couple of occasions.
Archie McKeown - Good vocally some good projection, ensure you fully warm up before auditioning, click here for how to warm up your vocals. Remember good eye contact helps you connect with your audience and really important to work on facial expression to convey the emotion in the song, click here for tips on singing with emotion.
Brighton Music Auditions – Open Mic UK
Amelia Bozec – Try to focus more away from looking down at your playing and more on expressing the emotion in the song. Click here for more on singing with facial expressions. Just need to tidy up the playing as you relax. Song is decent and has lots of potential, click here for more on writing lyrics.
Stella Blows – Lots of potential, need to start to work on bringing more dynamics to the performance so working on varying the projection and timing, click here for more bringing more singing dynamics to vocal performance. Also performance-wise, look to use your body, hands and eyes to convey emotion. Click here for stage performance tips.
Monica Moffatt – Lovely tone and a very engaging song with good dynamics to deliver the message. As a songwriting need to write lots of songs to really develop your song writing, click here for some tips on writing lyrics and writing that all important song chorus.
Mia Fiore – Good tone, make sure you are fully warmed up before coming into the audition room as you struggled with the high notes, click here for advice on how to warm up your vocals. This also maybe the wrong song choice, click here for the importance of song choice. Second audition song choice was much better for you!
Jasmine Morgan – Nice tone, just watch your timing and click here for more on performing a creative cover Look to work on developing your projection to be even better vocally, a good vocal coach will be able to assist you in developing this, click here for information on the importance of singing lessons.
Zak Sinclair – You could look to develop your diction to be clearer and your projection, working with a good vocal coach will help you to develop to be even better, click here for diction for singers and how to achieve better vocal projection.
Jade Green – Look to work the dynamics of the song a bit more to add more colour, click here for the importance of singing dynamics to make the performances even better.

Simisola Olashhere – Nice tone and sound to your vocal. Please come away from singing popular songs it’s difficult to sing them better than the original singer, click here for the importance of song choice.
Frankie Day – Really catchy song demonstrating lots of potential as a song writer, click here for more on writing lyrics. Image is very important and you certainly gave us that with a striking image click here for the importance of act image and synchronisation.
Hope Sacree – Lovely tone and delivery. Song has good potential, click here for more on writing lyrics it’s important you keep writing and developing as a song writer. Performance wise try and give us more eye contact to connect even more to your audience. Expression is good but look to work it with more eye contact, click here for the importance of singing with facial expressions.
The Guilding Lights – Nice melodic start and good impact vocally when you first come in vocally. Look to commit even more to the performance as it has a lot of passion and emotion in the song. Keep writing as you have lots of potential and it will get even better, click here for more on writing that all important song chorus. Potential for more engagement between performers to demonstrate a performance more together as a duo.
Rosanna Monachello – Good power to your vocal but use the power more sparingly and make it work with changing the dynamics, click here for more on the importance of singing dynamics. Sarah Jones – Good diction and commitment to the song click here for more on diction for singers. Try and demonstrate more of a connection to the song, click here for tips on demonstrating how singing with emotion can help within the performance. More belief in the eyes even if acting it.
Industry Feedback – Brighton Music Auditions
Jamie Andrews – Great you are performing your own songs and writing songs and developing those skills is really important. You’re struggling to connect with your audience as you aren’t giving eye contact or very little. Click here for the importance of how to perform visually as a singer. Performance wise you are quite static.
Bill Wang – Look to work with a good vocal coach to develop your projection, tone and dynamic to be even better, click here for more on how to pick the right singing teacher. You also aren’t performing as you are just crossing your arms. Your posture is important when you’re performing. You looked very smart.
Thomas Longley – Save the projection to give impact at certain points in the song over using and pushing the vocal dilutes the impact as you have good projection. Look to commit more to the performance click here for more on stage performance tips.
Giovanna Ciannella – Love your commitment to the song and singing. Your diction isn’t always so clear click here for more on diction for singers. Going forward try and give us more eye contact to connect us to your music. Like the second song better it has a lot of energy and fun. With this second song commit more to the performance and image make it colourful and fun too!
