Madeleine Rose – Good idea with the mash up. Nice tone to your vocal but you could look to work on your projection to give you more power, click here for tips on projection. Ukulele was nicely played but the sound was a little thin. Read the following to help add facial expression.
Finlay Frost – Nice power to your vocal but take care with your control, don’t look to force it. Also read here for tips on mic control. More performance will build up the experience and confidence. You’ve got a lovely strong voice, a little more breath control would really benefit.
Taylor Little – Potential is there but look to work with a good vocal coach to improve your projection and tone, most importantly don’t force the vocal as you will lose control, click here for tips on projection. Your stage presence was a little awkward which with more experience will improve; click here for tips on performance.
Brighton stage performance tips - feedback
Freya Morris – Beautiful playing. Impressive song and maturity to your performance. Just take care to focus on your playing throughout. Make sure you look up from your piano when you’re performing. Look to work on conveying the emotion in the song through the performance and in particular with your facial expression, click here for tips on facial expression.
Leah Sheridan – We hear that song a lot, but this may be the first time we’ve heard it as an original performance, click here for importance of song choice. A really good effort to hit those top notes try and just work on getting the control a little smoother to them as it was very noticeable you needed to put all your efforts in the lead up to them. Lovely individual image.
Jasin Hollow – Talented boy with a good original song. Not convinced the electric guitar is as effective as an acoustic it made the song sound a little crowded. Good image but look to work on your facial expression to convey the emotion in the song, click here for tips on facial expression. Watch the pitch as some of the lyrics couldn’t be heard properly.
Clarisse – Good vocally, but click here for importance of song choice, it was a very popular song to choose. Performance wise really commit to the high notes and show us the power! Watch the tempo, don’t rush it!
Beth Moore – A great song choice. Liked you made the song your own for more information on performing creative covers click here. Take care not to rush it and make the dynamics work the song better and another article click here on dynamics. Good emotional performance.
Morgan Smith – As always Morgan commits to the song and works the stage. However really need to be homing in on better mic control, click here for microphone techniques. Overall the vocal control could have been tighter. In places it was pushed too hard and you lost the control and tuning.
Kia Hayward – Good performance. The more you relax the easier it will be. Nicely sung but it’s been a very popular song to pick this competition and one you perhaps should have looked to put your own spin on click here for importance of song choice. and another good article is one to help be creative with a cover.
Natalie Moore – Good idea to have the guitar backing but watch your control as it times it was coming across shouty; you lost the control and nice sound in your voice. A good vocal coach will be able to assist you with your tuning and control to be even better, click here for the importance of voice training. Make sure you tune your guitar, click here for guitar tuning.
Brighton stage performance tips – feedback continued
Fintan – The most confident and exciting performance so far! Good song choice and some good tuning. Going forward really look to work the performance with more commitment, you can really climb into it and make it fantastic. Pretty good transition normally very difficult to jump to and from keys but that was smooth. Watch the diction a little; click here for advice on diction.
Mattie Elliott – Great to see you doing an original, definitely going in the right direction with good dynamics to the song. It however came across as a very nervy performance which affected the vocal control. Getting better each time we see you! Remember to put your own spin on the song, click here for performing a creative cover.
Amber Foxley – Good passion to the performance and you dressed with an appropriate image. Song choice however is very important and at times seemed too big for you, click here for importance of song choice. Also click here for some tips on performing a creative cover.
Millie Fraser – Lovely vocals. The Ukulele has its place but it can mean the performance lacks drive as it has a thin sound and feels like it needs more backing. This could have been a totally different performance with an acoustic guitar where it could have flowed better and felt the backing was fuller. Good vocals! click here for tips on performance.
Daniel Neale – Good vocals but the performance was lacking, you were very static, click here on stage presence and using the stage. Moving from their work on giving facial expression to convey the emotion in the song even better, click here for tips on facial expression.
Born2Blush – Performance is very slick but unusually they suffered with tuning issues which they will need to be on point to make the Grand Final this year! Good mash up and a very professional looking outfit. Careful of those top harmonies.
Maisie Peters – Good eye contact, dynamics and song. You delivered the song well for an overall strong performance. Liked the song. For more information on dynamics to a performance click here.
Lily Moram – Very good performance. Fantastic tone, control and power to your vocal, you conveyed the emotion in the song very well. Great delivery. Make sure you give every note it’s full worth.
Estelle Valentine – Lovely tone and control. Be more confident! The song choice really suited the sweet sounding tone to your vocal. Click here for tips on stage presence and using the stage more. Stage dynamics too with more varied facial expression would be where you could improve to be even better!
Georgia Cudby – Haunting song and performance what super vocal control! Beautifully delivery. Would like to see you sing something upbeat, click here for importance of song choice.
