Feedback for the Bristol Music Auditions

Isobel Sutton – Nice clean sound helped by good diction. Performance wise try and look up more to engage us whilst performing; this will help us connect even more to you as a performer. Click here for more on guitar playing tips, so your performance doesn’t look static. More confidence on the guitar would help so you look at the audience. Great voice! Effortless, melodical liner. Very mature writing.

Millianna Cotterell – Didn’t pick the easiest song and did a good job, perhaps look to develop your projection to be even better, click here for ways to achieve better vocal projection. Click here for more on performing a creative cover and for song mashups. Very controlled vocal tone. Well done on looking so comfortable in an audition. Nice soulful voice. Real understanding of the musical structure of the song.

Sunaina Garimella – You have nice tone but you need to look to develop your breathing and projection to be even better. Nice performance, we just need to see the emotion in the song in your performance. Click here for more on singing with facial expressions and singing with emotion

Ruby Butterworth – Nicely sung but click here for more on diction for singers and projection which you could look to develop to be even better, click here for ways to achieve better vocal projection. There needs to be more performance in your audition, and eye contact with the audience is important to make a connection.

Jordan Marvell – Cool vibe and image, click here for the importance of act image and synchronisation. Guitar had a nice quirky vibe, click here for more on guitar playing tips. Really good song.

Bristol Music Auditions – Open Mic UK

Locx – Liked the quirky and atmospheric vibe to the intro of the song. Performance wise try and project more to be even better, click here for ways to achieve better vocal projection. Even though you rap a good singing teacher can strengthen and develop your vocal muscles, click here for the importance of singing lessons.  Performance wise commit more to the performance, video yourself and perform more and critique to be more animated.

Holly Thomas – Nice voice. Try and make a stronger initial expression and commit more to the performance, click here for stage performance tips. Interesting vocal tone. With the right song, could sound amazing, click here of the importance of song choice

Misha Dawn - You committed well to the performance. Start to think about being more original. Great soulful voice. You’ve got such a powerful voice and brought a lot of confidence to the performance. Click here for more on the importance of song choice

Carla & Rhianne – Started with a lovely tone both of you but as a vocal duo the focus needs to be on building the harmonies and creating chemistry between you both, click here for tips on duos or groups. It’s a shame the nerves kicked in because the singing was really nice and the two voices work well together. Make sure you prepare properly before your audition. Good voices!

Hannah Turnbull Tones – Look to really work the dynamics more, especially the projection, click here for more on singing dynamics. Good song, well played and sung.

Emma Rice – Good to see you writing your own material already, click here for more tips on writing a song. Look to write as much as you can to develop your song writing skills. Backing music sounded a little country and dated not sure if that was deliberate. Good vocal performance. Make sure you bring the performance into your audition, click here for stage performance tips

Music Industry Feedback at the Bristol Music Auditions

Alistair Rice – Nice playing, however performance wise look up and engage your audience, click here for performing with music keyboards.  Once you settled down you gave eye contact but look to make an impression and connection earlier in the performance.

21 and Overs

Hannah Stone – Possibly as a dance song need to go more euphoric or more niche. Also look to commit to performance, click here for more on stage performance tips and also click here for the importance of act image and synchronisation you look good but you’re not going out for a night you need a distinctive image.

Matthew Davies – Always great to hear originals, but you need have more structure to the song. Click here for tips on song structures. Interesting track. Performance was directed at the floor, not the audience! Click here for stage performance tips. Not necessarily for me, but there’s some good ideas in there.

Vickie Evans – Good tone but you need to develop your projection and vocal range, click here for more how to pick the right singing teacher to assist you with this development to be even better. Nice interpretation of the song but could do with a bit more excitement, click here for advice on performing a creative cover

Emma Doupé – Great to see an inventive instrument in auditions. As an instrument it’s a little thin so need to be very careful when and where to play it. Perhaps consider other instruments like a harp for a bolder backing instrument. You’ve got a very strong vocal tone.

Mark Speed – Can hear there is a lot of passion in the song, just take care when writing songs and something so personal that as a song you try and relate to a wider audience where you can. Click here on some advice for writing the song chorus. Really nice, rich voice. Performed from the heart.

Maddie Jones – Distinctive image, click here for the importance of act image and synchronisation. Song is a good one and you played it softly to get a good balance between the guitar and vocal. Click here for more on guitar playing tips. Performance wise you need to engage you audience more. Very funky! Nice playing and great voice. Get a good producer to help you record this.
