Bristol's Got Talent - Feedback
Mia – You have a lovely tone and depth. Performance wise it was a little static. Theatre is a good avenue to advance with a music career but does restrict being original as you’re always playing a character rather than being yourself. The voice was clear and sounded really nice though. Click here for more on performing a creative cover.
Jazzy - Great that you worked out your own performance, you scored well for that however you need to embrace the whole stage and commit even more to the performance. Perhaps backing dancers would have allowed you to climb into the vocals even more. The routine however was not as good as the singing but overall a good performance. Click here for more on audience engagement.
Laura Cruz – Some good vocals but take care not to jump into the notes. Also be careful with your diction as it was hard to understand what you were singing at times, click here for more on diction for singers. Your performance would also benefit if you added in more dynamics; this can be done by simply varying the delivery, tone and projection of your vocals, click here for more on singing dynamics. Other than that, your performance was delivered well.
J-stevens Rap – You performed the song well but it was very much an impression of the original artist. Perhaps look to change the lyrics around or better still perform your own songs. Click here for more on performing a creative cover. An improvement is needed in your rapping but this will come with good coaching. Click here for more on how to be a rapper.
Isobel Sutton – The song has lots of potential and you have a supper vocal tone which you conveyed in the song’s emotion really well. Keep writing lots of songs as you demonstrate a real talent for song writing. Even writing with other song writers would take you to the next level as you have real potential. Reuben de Maid – Good shout singing a female song as a cover however generally it’s a good idea to steer away from such popular songs, click here for more on the importance of song choice. You always dress so smartly and give a very good first impression. Vocally, if you could work on that projection you will be an exceptional talent. Click here for more on how to achieve better vocal projection. You have a fab image and are a star for such a young age.
Daisy May – Nice song to select to perform, really liked that you tried to make it your own, click here for more on performing a creative cover. Your guitar work was a little untidy so look to work on that to create a nicer sound to back up your vocals. You also looked very nervous, so you to need to work on building up your confidence to enable a better performance. Click here for more on dealing with the nerves.
Charlotte – You have a strong voice with good vocal projection but you need to look to develop your performance through facial expressions and emotion. Click here for more on singing with facial expressions and here for more on audience engagement. Your performance got much stronger as the song went on.
Kyle Music – A good use of dynamics to really lift the song, you performed well with the guitar. You can see you have performed and gigged more than the other guitar players in the show as you have good impression and movement. Great vocals and great stage presence, so well done. Click here for more on guitar playing tips.
Annabel – Exceptional! The timing, mic control, vibe, tone and dynamics were all perfect! Take care to keep controlled throughout as you pushed it towards the end. Click here for more on protecting your vocals as a singer. Very natural and excellent accompaniment too.
Little Harmonics – Love this song, great song choice. As a vocal duo, it didn’t work singing a line each as it showcased you as two individuals not as a duo. It was much nicer when you sung harmonies but they could have been even more contrasting to give more vocal depth. Tempo seemed a bit lagging and would have benefitted from being sped up. You need to work the dynamics throughout and not just at the end. Click here for more on act image and synchronisation and here for more on guitar playing tips.

Lizzie Burton – Connect us to your performance with your eyes and facial expressions. You need to really develop more of a performance. Click here for more on performing on stage for singers. There are loads of Open Mic nights you can get involved with locally, these are a good place to practice your stage craft, click here for more on the importance of open mic nights for singers. When performing always film your performance so you can review and reflect on it. Going forward, try and put your own stamp on the song as you tend to copy the artist, you need to show more originality. Click here for more on performing a creative cover.
Ali Rice – Some good vocals but you need to work on the dynamics in your performance more, the timing of the delivery and the timing of the punch, click here for more on guitar playing tips. By varying the tone or the volume of your vocals and playing it can keep the audience interested.
Lydia Purcell – You have a nice voice but it would have been good if you added your own slant to this song, click here for more on performing a creative cover. Vocally watch you don’t force it and lose control. You need to work on your breathing to sustain your vocals throughout your performance, click here for more on breath control exercises for singers.
Zara Jagroo – A lovely voice but you need to add more to your performance to really connect with the audience through your expressions and emotions. You need to really engage the audience with your eyes and make us believe in your message. Click here for more on performing with keyboards.
Feedback from the Bristol's Got Talent
Eleni – Really like your individual style, the song had a nice feel with the combination of keys and guitar. It was a good song with great meaningful lyrics. The breakdown was great and really catchy. Brilliant use of dynamics to mix the song about! Try to connect more with each other throughout your performance, click here for tips on duos and groups and here for more on act image and synchronisation.
Mark Speed – The violin really added a nice aspect to the song. Good connection to your audience, but remember to connect with your musicians too, click here for tips on duos and groups. You put a lot of emotion into the song, so it felt really heart felt which really made us connect to the story.
Laz Irvine – It’s great to see you dancing and moving about and using that stage, but try not to just wander around aimlessly. You have a great personality and charisma that shines through on stage and you looked like you were really enjoying yourself, which was lovely to see. Good vocals but you could benefit from developing your projection and tone, click here for more on how to achieve better vocal projection.
Hollie & Charlie – Lovely matching image, there was a good connection between the two of you. Beautiful vocals and great harmonies. Click here for tips on duos and groups. It was a very confident and natural performance.
