Freya – Always a difficult job to open the show. Some nice moments!Aim to convey a greater sense of ‘feeling’ though, click here for singing with emotion. Keyboard also restricted overall performance.
Millianna – After a tentative start, you warmed into the performance, and sang with dynamic range. Good aspects here, scope for more confidence in presentation. The song choice was a little over played; click here for the importance of song choice.
Charlie – Liked the keys introduction –lively and set the right tone. You were composed and controlled throughout your performance. Not always fluent and smooth, but potential here all day long, click here for tips on dynamics.
Jonathan – Prepared, polished, full of character – great work! Pitch /intonation inconsistent however - this could affect your progression. Split the judges.
Chloe – Liked the look – well considered. Choice of song suited your voice. With greater experience and confidence, definite potential here. Click here for tips on making the song your own.
Kieran – Great original, held pulse well in this style, guitar work added a quality. Watch plosive consonants but a solid performance today. Top half for sure.
Kayleigh – Emotive choice of song – well done here. Needed a little time to relax and find exactness of pitch, placement and fluency. Creditable attempt and another top half performance, now try to develop your technical accuracy and confidence on stage, click here for singing with confidence.
Willow – liked the backing dancers – good idea. Watch choreography timing though. Also give consideration to your own image and pitch exactness, click here for music synergy and image. Clear preparation and attention to detail.
Sean – Comfortable, confident and nice tone. Needs an edge.
Lydia – You have something! Low register needs more work, image could be better (sorry!), click here for music synergy and image. Good choice of song, lovely tone, great projection and musicality there. One to watch..
Bristol stage performance tips – feedback continued
Tianna – Brave choice of song – big range and use of registers. Especially so low to open! Loved the image, expression and personalization. Very composed. A contender to go through.
Tom – Confident, spoken introduction. Good composition, generally musical and performed with a sense of ease. A stronger act.
Laura – Many strong aspects, but not convinced about pitch accuracy which detracted today. I think you tried too hard to colour with expression losing reference. Stay with vocal training and come back again, click here for the benefits of singing lessons. Good projection and stage confidence.
Isobel – Great image! Choice of guitar worked too… Nice tone. The song didn’t get going for me (sorry!). Many songs could have been so much better for you. Much promise with the correct material, click here for the importance of song choice.
Olivia Kneath– Nice gentle song, performed with security. Nice head voice phrasing. Aim for greater stage presence; click here for tips on performing. It looks like you are still finding your style – the confidence will come.
Reuben – 9 years old! What composure and delivery. Inevitably, vocal training still required but numerous strong aspects and so much potential, click here for the benefits of singing lessons. Try to stay in a more comfortable range until the technical foundation develops….
Kat – Well done with your own composition and guitar accompaniment. A number of promising aspects and vocally secure but you need to find an edge and stage presence. Keep going!
Luke – Well held pace, smooth, expressive and controlled. Good material choice for you….. Great contrast with the spoken parts. Rhythmically accurate. Work on breathing (affected tone just slightly as you tired), and unlucky with the ending – a smile normally deals with these moments!
Olivia – Technically secure, affected by nerves on this occasion, click here for singing with confidence. Watch plosive consonants and low register support / projection. Great potential Olivia. Lovely image.
Sarah – Nice voice, nice idea. Needs more stage craft and guitar work detracted initially. Once you settled you indicated more of your true promise. Needed more energy really, click here for tips on performing.
Ben – Liked this. Different style, nice tone, technically strong and you set the mood. Lovely vibrato Ben. Split the judges in terms of commercial potential, but top half today.
Zara – Confident, attention to detail and well held pulse. Emotion conveyed. Not all pitching was exact, and might need an edge – lacked certain individuality but top half overall, click here for music synergy and image.
Faith – Watch intonation and pitch. Good attempt and clear stage presence. Something missing though, perhaps a confidence, shaping, contrast, choice of material. Click here for tips on performing. Keep going.
Annabel – Beautiful diction, articulation, expression, attention to detail, image and dynamic shaping. If anything there is scope for stage presence, but very good! Best in show.
