Singers were given feedback at the Glasgow Auditions

GLASGOW AUDITIONS

Glasgow Auditions: Music industry judges gave singers feedback at the Glasgow auditions at Dance HQ in Glasgow this weekend. The Glasgow auditions gave singers and songwriters the opportunity to gain a place in the Regional Finals of Open Mic UK. Open Mic UK is more than a competition and if you’d like advice on how to develop as an act then please click here advice for aspiring singers.

The music industry judges at the Southampton auditions included:

  • Ross Gunning, Glasgow’s Philharmonic Orchestra
  • Gordon Johnstone, Glasswerk’s
  • Vonnie Carstair’s – Over the Bridge Management

Glasgow Auditions - Singing Feedback

Olivia McDonald – You have a lovely vocal tone and delivery. Try to think a bit more about your image and how it synchronises with your act. Click here for more on act image and synchronisation. You used good eye contact which helped your audience to engage with you however you seemed a little nervous. Click here for more on why is eye contact important? and for tips on how to calm nerves.

Olivia Branning – It was a great song choice for your vocals. Try to work on your breathing between phrases and breath control. Click here for tips on breath control exercises. Working with a singing teacher should also help you improve this. Think about using a little more eye contact. This will help your audience engage with you more. Louise Rodgers – The quality of you voice is very good! However it needs developing. Be careful not to sing through your nose. Working with a singing teacher will help you to improve this. Sophie Smith - You have a lovely voice and tone! Try to look at the judges more when you’re singing, this will help your audience connect with you even more. Neve Smith – You have a great voice and vocal tone for your age! Try to move around to the beat a little more, this will make you seem more relaxed. Glasgow Auditions - Feedback for Singer's

Jessica Marshall – Your voice is lovely, especially in the higher range. Your song choice was good however it perhaps wasn’t the right song choice for your voice. Click here for the importance of song choice. You have a lot of potential however your voice needs developing a bit more. Think about finding a singing teacher that is right for you. Rosie Sullivan – You have a beautiful tone and delivery! Your performance was mesmerising and you used great expression throughout. You have quite a unique voice and sound which is good. Think about working on your higher range to improve even more. Click here for more on how to improve vocal range. Try not to look at your guitar too much. Rebecca – You have a great image and a very nice vocal range and control. It was a great song choice and a very confident audition, well done! Make sure not to push your vocals too much and not to put too much pressure on your voice. Click here for tips on how to achieve better vocal projection. Baby Taylor – You have a very good voice, especially in the softer phrases. It was a great song and the rest of the band could be heard throughout the performance too. You have a lot of potential.
