GLASGOW MUSICIANS WANTED TO IMPRESS

Musicians wanted to impress music industry judges at the Glasgow Open Mic UK auditions, who have provided feedback for the Under 16 acts!

 GLASGOW MUSICIANS WANTED

Glasgow musicians wanted to impress: National singing competition Open Mic UK held auditions at Dance Glasgow’s Studio this weekend in a search for the region’s best singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and vocalists. The Glasgow musicians wanted to impress, as with a place in the Open Mic UK 2014 Regional Finals up for grabs, the acts that auditioned had a lot to play for!

The Glasgow auditions were judged by music industry specialists who have provided music industry feedback for a selection of acts. The people the Glasgow musicians wanted to impress were Gordon Johnstone from Glasswerk Magazine, Angela McCallum from McCallum School of Music, Amanda Hutchinson from Riverside Music Complex, rapper MPFree and Darran Barker from DB Management.

Alexandra Murray Reynolds – Good vocals, but watch the high notes! Lovely control of your vibrato. Remember eye contact is important for engaging your audience. Click here for stage performance tips for singers.

Ellie McConnachie – A confident performance. Watch the softer sections of the song - keep in tune. Nice tone. Try to relax and watch your tempo too.

Alannah Ferguson – A superb audition – well done! You performed very well and show great attitude and confidence. Your projection was very good. Just slow down a little now and relax.

Ceona Logan – You have a nice sounding voice and there’s definitely potential here, but you seemed very nervous. Have confidence and engage with your audience! Click here for stage performance tips for singers.

Kirsten Harvey – Fantastic voice and great vibe. Your guitar and voice worked really well together – now you just need to work on your guitar tuning and you will be great. Good choice of song – lovely flip between the chest and head voice.

Nicole Rose – You have potential, but you pushed too hard vocally. Be careful not to shout and try to control those notes. Remember, the song is about love so smile! Click here for stage performance tips for singers.

Dylan Fraser – Good performance. You started slowly and got much better when you projected your voice. Your vocals have a nice tone – try and work on extending your range a little more now. Try and have confidence.

Katie Hitchen – A good, well-delivered performance with brilliant vocal runs which were nice and controlled. Great choice of song. Look up and try and engage your audience more now. Click here for stage performance tips for singers.

Natasha Ingus – You have a nice voice, but I really think you could benefit from vocal coaching. Click here to see how singing lessons can help you improve. Try and project your voice more as you’re quite quiet at the moment. Let us hear what you have to give! More confidence is needed. Click here for stage performance tips for singers.

Lauren Keely – Great sound, good performance. Try and look up more from the guitar and sing to your audience! Perhaps you’d be better without the guitar for now until you’ve developed your guitar skills enough. Click here for stage performance tips for singers.

Molly Boyd – Good voice, but slightly pitchy in places. Work on your control – the song got away from you a couple of times.

Andrea – You need to project your voice more as you were quite quiet. Need a wee bit more power and confidence behind your vocals. Keep developing – some vocal coaching would help. Click here to see how singing lessons can help you improve.

Loxie – Nice to see and hear a young group singing harmonies. A lovely performance – you work well together.

Glasgow singers wanted – Under 16 feedback continued

Demi – You have a great voice but watch those nasal tones. A slower song might suit your voice more – keep practicing. Click here to see how song choice can improve your performance. Try and be more confident in yourself as you’re great!

Keira – Well done! You have a real presence and your vocals were great. A lovely, lively voice – great energy. Be careful not to shout in places!

Eva – Great image. Singing acapella doesn’t really give you anywhere to hide so watch your pitching. Good vocal with plenty of emotion.

Kayley and Coleen – Nice tone when you sing together – your voices work well together. Remember to perform! You were both a little quiet – try and project your vocals more.

Taylor Rae – Fantastic vocals Taylor and I love your song choice. Remember don’t shout on those top notes though. Very distinct voice, very capturing. Well done.

Tammy – Just need to push those vocals a bit more. Watch your pitching in places but you have a lovely natural voice and tone. Good emotion – you engaged well. Have confidence in your ability now and try and move more! Click here for stage performance tips for singers.

Tegan – Your pitching was quite flat – you’d really develop by having some vocal coaching. Click here to see how singing lessons can help you improve. The performance was quite flat as well – try and bring the song to life! Click here for stage performance tips for singers.

Amy – Great voice with a nice tone and lovely top range. Good control on the chorus. Well done!

Bethany – You have a lovely clarity in your voice. Good song choice, it really suited your voice well. A natural talent who will go far.

Robin – You performed really well. Love the attitude – good vocals. Be careful not to shout on the big section though – watch the push on your vocal chords and learn to anchor. Great young talent.

Morgan – Good voice, but push it – show us what you can do! Give it some more life and have a bit more confidence. Click here for stage performance tips for singers.

Bailey – Beautiful tone. Very brave. Can’t wait to see you at the next stage! Keep practicing – your voice will develop and you will get better and better.

Tyler – Well done for a great audition. There’s something special in your voice! Don’t look down at your guitar so much though. Just relax and try and work on that flip between your chest and head voice. Click here for stage performance tips for singers.

Amy – Good power and range. There’s so much potential here. Keep building that tone and technique, and try and engage your audience with eye contact. Click here for stage performance tips for singers.

Holly – Great pitch – best of the day so far! Great confidence.

Ashleigh Burns – Very good. Adore your tone. Just think about song choice as it didn’t work today. Click here to see how song choice can improve your performance.

Charisse – Strong vocals. Slightly pitchy but there’s such potential here. Great performance.

Chloe Hogson – Your vocals were made for musical theatre. Watch that nasally tone though.

Tia B – Great range – beautiful. Watch you don’t push too hard on the top belt. Make sure you are learning good technique.

Tammy Lee – Potential is there – just need to build on technique and confidence now. Click here for stage performance tips for singers. Brilliant song choice and you controlled it well.

Sol – I think you need more practice. You’re very shy but you have a nice voice and it was a good effort nonetheless. Click here to see how singing lessons can help you improve.

Billie – Great voice – always remember to perform though! Click here for stage performance tips for singers.
