Glasgow stage performance tips for the Open Mic UK Glasgow Regional Finals!
Glasgow stage performance tips: At Open Mic UK we provide music industry feedback to all acts that perform in our shows. Below is feedback for acts from the Glasgow Music contest.

The regional finals were judged by music industry specialists who have provided stage performance tips for each of the acts that performed. The people the Glasgow musicians wanted to impress were Gordon Johnstone from Glasswerk Magazine, Angela McCallum from McCallum School of Music, Amanda Hutchinson from Riverside Music Complex, Marc Andrews from Splash Productions and Darran Barker from DB Management.
Glasgow’s Regional Finals were rounded off by our guest act previous winner of TeenStar and current X Factor star Emily Middlemas.

Demi Hilley – Song choice is so important and it didn’t seem to fit your range well, click here for the importance of song choice. You have real potential, just keep at it! Your performance started quietly; click here for advice on projection.
Tammy Leigh Brown – Keep the mic close to your mouth, click here for tips on microphone techniques. You engaged well with the audience. Try and anchor those belt notes, a vocal coach will be able to help you with this, click here for importance of voice training.
Ashleigh Burns – Great voice. Smiled and connected with the crowd. Nice emotion in your voice. Develop those piano skills and you’ll be on the ticket.
Aimee Alexander – Good use of the stage. You’ve got quite a country tone to your voice. Well done for carrying on through the performance when you’d forgotten a couple of lyrics.
Molly Baird – Presentation was good. Loved the confidence on stage. Some of the faster sections of the song lacked a bit of melody, click here for importance of voice training.
Lauren Kelly – Nice tone to your vocals. Needed a little more performance, click here for tips on performance. Remember to convey the emotion from the song into your performance; it’s a love song so smile! Click here for tips on singing with emotion.
Bailey McLauchlan – Great voice for your age. Lost your timing a little bit but the performance was great. Keep going!
Dylan Fraser – Strong voice performance and clear delivery. Nerves were there at the start but you got over it very well. A good song choice, click here for the importance of song choice. Lovely tone.
Alexandra Murray-Reynolds – Great voice, looks good. Try not to close your eyes so much, it loses the connection with the crowd, click here for tips on performance. Not sure this was the right song choice for you; click here for the importance of song choice. Your head voice is beautiful; make sure you use it more.
Nicole Rose – Powerful voice, great performance. Try and anchor those belt notes, a vocal coach will be able to help you with this, click here for importance of voice training. You engaged well with the audience. Great delivery.

Kirsteen Harvey – Great image. Nice high range. A little extra work to develop an already great voice, click here for importance of voice training.Song choice is so important but not sure this was right, click here for the importance of song choice.
Charisse Coletta – Very good performance. Big chorus was very well done. Used the whole of the stage very well. Watch your pitch, towards the end it was slightly shouty, click here for tips on projection.
Eva Beattie – Good voice. Started really well, ending was better though. Need to work on your voice control. Great image, liked the mash up.
Bethany Paton – Very smooth vocals with a tough of power too. Lovely version of the song. Great performance. Could benefit from developing more style into your voice, click here for importance of voice training.
Robyn – Keep working on your voice and you’ll be a stage star. Don’t let those nerves take over; your voice is brill, click here for singing with confidence.
Hollie Robinson – A Capella beginning was very well done. Performed strongly and used the stage well. Confident performance. Nice controlled voice.
Alannah – Nice voice needs a little work, click here for importance of voice training. Worked the stage well. Nice power on the high range. Brave song choice and you nailed it.
Keira Swift – Lovely tone to the vocals, showed the emotion of the song throughout. Big confident voice. Make sure you engage with the audience more, click here for tips on performance.
Billie Kerr – Good voice, but stayed safe by not hitting any of the high notes. Good performance. Brilliant confidence. Keep the tone constant, there were a couple of weak moments, click here for importance of voice training.
Kayleigh & Colleen – Harmonies worked well. Perfect timing with each other. Need to make sure you perform more, click here for tips on performance.
Tyla Winter – Really good voice but the high voice needs work. Work on your nerves and your performance will instantly improve; click here for tips on stage confidence.
Ellie – Nice rhythm to the performance. Great breathy vocals. Liked the song choice, you gave it energy, but maybe needed just a little more.
Tia Butterworth – Well presented. Nice to see a different style. Not sure this was the right song for you; click here for the importance of song choice.
Tammy – Good vocals but you need to work on the overall performance, click here for tips on performance. Build that confidence, the talent is there.
L.O.X.I.E – Loved this. Well presented. Well-co-ordinated and a lot of fun.
