The music industry judges at the Liverpool talent contest included:

Liverpool Talent Contest - Feedback

Niamh Scott McCormack – You have a great voice. Add this to more of a stage performance and body language you would be good for musical theatre. Using the stage will be more engaging for your audience. Click here for stage performance tips for singers. Your vocals felt slightly shaky on the high notes. Try to relax and learn to control your voice, like any other muscle. Click here for vocal exercises for singers – these will help strengthen your vocals. You will have a bright future!

Millie Mae – Totally blown away by the story and the song. Vulnerable but confident. You have strong vocals. Look at creating your brand as an artist, as this is needed to make it big! Click here for tips on creating a brand as a singer. You are a very exciting prospect.

Josh – Its great what you chose as your introduction – shows your confidence. Although it could be a little stronger. Your vocals need some work with tuning and pitching. You have so much potential hiding in your voice. Keep performing… It will come!

Amy Fullager – Enjoyed your performance. Good groove and delivery, it was controlled and easy to listen to. We liked your use of stage! While doing this, try to feel the lyrics a bit more. They are upbeat – so try and portray the happiness in the song into the performance. Click here for stage performance tips for singers. We could feel some nervousness. Yasmin – Lovely controlled vocals. You look like a natural artist! Try to be confident on stage. Click here for some tips on building stage confidence for singers. Be confident and the performance element will become natural to you.

Drew Heywood – Liked the all black look and guitar! Your ambition and confidence shines through. We enjoyed your song choice. Click here for the importance of song choices. Cassie – Love the individuality your incorporated into your performance. Try to work on your guitar playing a little more, especially during the lead sections of the song. Amber Wheeler – Very distinctive and beguiling vocals – be yourself and develop your niche. Enjoyed your audience interaction. Your melody’s were great! Nina Morton – Looking forward to hearing more from you. Fantastic song – well-crafted and great delivery. We enjoyed the chorus, and the lyrics were very dark. Maybe add some darkness to your stage presence to bring it all together. Click here for stage performance tips for singers. Add to this a brand identity, so you have something different to offer. Click here for finding an image as a musician. Do this, and you’re all set or success.

Kim Meade – You have a lovely voice. We could sense your nervousness on stage, this affected your stage presence and vocals. Click here for some tips on dealing with nerves. We can hear a great vocal ability that’s waiting to come out! Dealing with those nerves and practising as much as possible will help bring it out. You have a richness of raw materials, well done.

Taylor Ashcroft – Very confident and mature performance. Good strong vocals. You have a strong image, and we appreciated your eye contact. If you can add a raw add a raw emotional connection with the song and audience, you will be unstoppable. Click here for some tips on being able to sing with emotion. Dami – Great image and vocal ability. Powerful too! You have a lovely stage presence. To perfect this even more, try to identify some original stage movements, this would benefit your performance greatly. This will be more engaging for your audience and help identify you as an artist. Liv Armstrong – There is a fantastic and beautiful voice waiting to come out! You should work with a singing teacher; they will be able to bring out the best qualities in your voice. Click here for picking the right singing teacher for you. They will also be able to assist with your breath control, as this was lacking slightly. Olivia Chadwick – Well done for taking the mic problems in your stride! Very clear vocals and good song choice. Your voice went slightly pitchy at times, but this can be minimised with some help. Click here for vocal exercises for singers – these will help your pitch. Let go of the mic and use the stage. This would be very engaging for your audience. Click here for stage performance tips for singers. Try to keep confident and relaxed on stage. 

Katie May Collins – Fantastic voice with real depth and controlled well. We felt your body language gave us your nervousness. Try to relax and stay confident as its affecting your stage presence. Liverpool Talent Contest – Singing Feedback

Ciara Grady – A surprising maturity to your voice. Your song choice was too close to the original. Try to pick a song that you can bring you own spin to, and show us your originality as an artist. Georgia Brown – What a great sounding voice! Really interesting approach. Try to use eye contact with your audience to show the emotion in your song. This will also be very engaging for them. Caitlin Booth - A real professional performance. You have very powerful vocals for your age. We felt emotion and sensitivity in your voice. This was very engaging for your audience. The Icon – Great performance and song. Lovely fresh approach. Good image! We’d like to see more varied guitar work between the three of you. Take advantage of their being three people! Click here for some guitar playing tips. You were full of energy; you gave us a catchy performance. Well done.

Caitlin Davis – Your very brave, that was a big performance! Good stage presence and vocal ability. Try to include soft and quiet notes too. Doing this will better your vocal dynamics and what you can offer to an audience. Click here for some tips on using vocal dynamics. Some of your high notes felt slightly shaky, try to strengthen those. Click here for vocal exercises for singers – these will help strengthen your vocals.

Charlotte Codack – Good vocal technique and sensitive performance! You have strong vocals. Big movements show up better on stage. Click here for stage performance tips for singers. Your body language felt nervous, try to relax so you don’t seem nervous on stage. Click here for some tips on dealing with nerves. Be more confident in your ability!

Hollie Wright – Very confident performance and style! Strong vocals that was easy to watch. Look into developing your individual brand. Click here for tips on creating a brand as a singer. Try to use the stage as much as possible!

Katie Clark – Good performance – you clearly thought it through. Enjoyed the stage turn at the start. Liked your original stage performance. Although your vocals could sound more original – sounds very similar to Alexandra Burke. Think about working with a singing teacher, they can help find your vocal identity. Catherine Giller – Great original song and delivery. We could feel your emotional connection to the words. A very individual performance which is refreshing and encouraging for a bright future. Charlotte Dawson – Good actions for the lyrics. Your body language felt nervous. Try to minimise these nerves as they are affecting your stage presence. T’mya Fyffe – Wow! Try to grow in confidence because you certainly have the vocal ability. You have very powerful vocals with great technique. You shared a little innocence in your presence and image which was very appealing to your audience. Think of yourself as a recording artist, and your stage craft will follow. Rebe Melia – There’s a Paloma Faith in there itching to get out! Good performance, but we were left with wanting more. Who is the unique in you? Figure this out and you will have great potential. Caitlin McDougall – Soft and soulful voice, great performance. Let go of the mic and use the stage. More stage gestures would really benefit the performance. Rebecca Dulson – You have a nice voice. You looked a little nervous, although this did get better as the song went on. Try and being confidently! We wanted more feeling from the performance. Oliver Mac – You have a good vocal range. Great look! We could see you in a boy band. Your vocals need some work. Look to work with a singing teacher to bring out the best qualities in your voice. Katrina Rae – A very quirky performance. You have a nice subtle tone to your voice. Nice chorus, we could feel the emotions in every line. You need some more guitar practice to strengthen the overall performance. Click here for tips on playing guitar. Try not to close your eyes on stage. Use eye contact to connect with your audience, its engaging for them. Click here for why eye contact is important for the performer. We enjoyed your vocals!

Rachel Boal – A very powerful performance! Good use of the stage! Nice interaction with the audience. You have good vocal control and clear diction. Fewer nerves and more facial expressions used would massively improve your performance. Use facial expressions to portray the emotions in the song. Matt Bankhurst – Nice husky vocals! Great guitar work. You performed a nice catchy original. Now you should look at who you are as an artist, and find an image to match. Click here for finding an image as a musician. It would also be beneficial to your performance to try and seek some engagement from your audience. Click here for tips on audience engagement.

Kaiden Nolan – Confident performance! You have a cool image. You performed a catchy original   song. Loved that the audience sang along – addressing the audience was the right thing to do. You kept your audience engaged! At times your diction wasn’t so clear, be sure to pronounce all the words in your song. Click here for tips on being able to improve diction. Also think about offering more facial expressions, this will show the emotions in the song. Click here for tips on singing with facial expressions.

Chelsea Spiers – You have a lovely innocent and soft voice. We needed more stage performance from you, move around and use your body language to portray the emotions in the song. Click here for stage performance tips for singers. We also needed more pronunciation in from you, we were struggling to hear words… you were slightly mumbling. Click here for tips on being able to improve diction. Try to work on your nerves as this probably affected your diction.

Cat Perrin – Good song choice and vocal performance. You’re a very bubbly character that showed on stage! You have nice vocals. Look to work on your image, to bring together your originality as an artist. Click here for finding an image as a musician. En Harmonics – Nice harmonies! Some more interesting chord progression and guitar technique is needed to make this exciting. Click here for some guitar playing tips. Your chorus section is nice! We loved your smiles – you looked like you were enjoying yourselves! We could listen to you all day!

Billie Christiansen – Cool image and nice ukulele. They suited! You know what artist you are. You have nice perky vocals. Look to use your facial expressions more to communicate the emotions in the song to your audience. This will make your performance more engaging. Sarah Prescott – Strong vocals and great control. It was a big emotional performance. Well done! Take things to the next level and work on developing your unique approach and personality. Alexandra Archer – Brave performance! Your nerves were obvious. Try to minimise these before you come on stage as your restricting your performance. Click here for some tips on dealing with nerves. There are lots to be positive about here, you have a great vocal. 

Owen Holt – It was a very polished performance! Loved your original song. Your unique, infectious and delivered flawlessly. Click here for some advice for your performance. If you continue to work you will do very well. 

Georgia Cargen – Nice image – you look like a pop star! A very passionate performance. Try to watch your breathing technique, at times this was quite obvious. Lois Bickerstaffe - Very strong performance! Take things to the next level by thinking through stage presence and your identity as an artist. Click here for tips on creating a brand as a singer. Liverpool Talent Contest – Feedback

Liva – Fantastic delivery. Very convincing and full of passion. You have good vocals. It would be interesting to see what you could do with original material. Liked that your personality came through and there was loads of energy and passion. Gogo – An entertaining performance. We felt your voice was under strain at times. You need to work on strengthening your vocals.
