Pia Harmony – Decent song but not sure it’s your best, click here for advice on writing a killer chorus. Could look to bring more expression to the performance and don’t be frightened to move your body even though restricted to be at close proximity to the mic.
Vanessa – Song choice is really important and it didn’t feel like you made it different enough, click here for more information on performing a creative cover. Also not convinced that the song suited the nicer tones in your vocal range.
ELOISE – Liked your song different and great on the air with some melody. Try not to force the vocal and lose the control.
London and East England Singing Contest
Origin – Brave to start acappella, click here for more advice on singing acappella. Click here for more information on audience participation. You have a nice tone and vocal but took an age to go anywhere and the transition wasn’t seamless. Song and performance never seemed to get going, going forward focus just on nailing a killer song and performance.
Havva – Good commitment to the performance. Liked the way you slid down the notes to give the performance personality.
Rushil – Good ideas with the backing instruments, loved the flute but vocally a very nervy start, click here for advice on how to control the nerves. Try and engage with each other as performers a little more early on. Performance got better as it went on.
Aoife – Liked your originality just like to see you commit more to the performance use that stage fully and be more animated. Practice and practice so you don’t forget the lyrics, however well done for not highlighting the problem.
House Medicine – A bold sound created by all performers, remember don’t get lost individually and connect with each other on stage so demonstrates a collective performance. No engagement from instrumental performers with each other or audience.
Nathan Carpenter – Use the front of the stage more to get a better connection with the audience. Click here for more information on audience participation. You over used the waving on the chorus.
Ollie Wade – Click here for advice on using a loop pedal in a performance; key is to get it up and running quickly or risk losing your audience. Nice backing although a little crowded which did suffocate itself a little. Would have looked to have broken it down a bit more instrumentally to not have so much going on.
Charlotte Lloyd-Butler – Song is decent but needs a little more development if you want a bit more instant impact and a chorus that isn’t going to leave people’s heads in a hurry, click here for advice on writing a killer chorus.
Bex Tu – Good connection between performers for a very classical version of an old classic. It was a vocal performance foremost rather than a performance to translate the story of the song emotionally.
Mary Williams - Liked your commitment to the performance need to loosen up a little as you look a bit rigid when you want to be a little lazy and go with the rhythm of the song. Tighten up the timing of your moves too, to back up your strong vocal.
London and East England Singing Contest
Yasmin Samadi – Think your performance, it would benefit from letting it breathe it’s all upfront and a bit much, rework the dynamics of the song and it will convey the story better.
Darcy – Nicely sung you have a nice tone without overly impressing perhaps a different song choice would have shown your vocal off even more, click here for importance of song choice.
Faye Weston – A committed performance, just take care not to overcook it and push it too hard. Watch the facial expressions as at times they are coming across quite harsh.
Tallulah – Remember to perform in the instrumental section, click here for some advice on what is best to do. Song is decent but some of the lyrics don’t scan as well as they could and perhaps reworking a few areas would help it to flow a little better.
2 Way Street – An electric guitar can overcrowd a performance and be careful to think whether it’s good enough to be the only instrument in the performance. Felt like the vocals were just fighting to compete throughout and you ended up being shouty.
Joseph Marcus – Lots of power in the vocal but a bit more control needed which a good vocal coach would assist to tighten this up to be even better. Try and add more range and dynamic to the performance, click here for more information on vocal dynamics.
Ellie Manning – Potential is there but try and vary your tones and range to give it more colour (like the pun?). Song is ok but slow it down a little and work on the chorus a little so it’s more instant, click here for advice on writing a killer chorus.
Freddie – Catchy song which is easy to relate to, albeit felt a little dated and perhaps better suited to a band. Rework the backing to make it a bit more current as it has potential. Commit more to the performance.
James Burrage – So difficult to get that hit song it’s decent but it’s not leaving you with a smell of a potential hit where you need to leave people with it stuck in their heads! So click here on some advice on writing songs.
Jayden – Lovely vocals but not demonstrated much originality, click here for advice on how to do a creative cover.
Lauren Page – Enjoyed the performance. Try and address the audience more as you are side on too much of the time. Also really throw yourself into the performance show more of the passion which compelled you to write it!
Deedee – Lovely personality and character in your vocal to give the cover a different flavour. Need to ensure you keep vocal control throughout as at times your tuning waivered.
