The London music event was rounded off by our guest act, singer and songwriter, Ben McKelvey.

Gamal John – Great vocal range and stage presence. An all-round polished performance. Just the right amount of confidence. Happy brought down the integrity of the performance a little. Could be a little more contemporary. Click here for advice on the importance of song choice.

Ben Street – A great unique style. Lovely stage presence and great tone to the voice.  Reminds me of a young Eddie Vedder. Guitar work is strong. Try and engage the audience more by using your facial expressions to tell us the story. Click here for advice on stage performance and click here for advice on using facial expressions whilst performing. Your projection and dynamics were strong and there’s lots of potential here!

Nadia Rae – incredible voice. Really warmed through to the end of the song and you looked so natural on stage. Great vocal control. You made the song original too. You had such emotion and showed great range. Now think about song choice and standing out from the crowd. Click here for advice on the importance of song choice.

Katie Ann Thomas – Vocally you’re really good but the performance wasn’t original and didn’t tell us anything about Katie as a performer. Your song choice was a very popular one. Click here for advice on the importance of song choice. You’re very confident on stage and aren’t afraid to perform. Try to have this confidence in your voice now!

Lucia Laferia – You look at home on stage. Try to articulate a little more so we can hear everything you’re saying and engage more in the song, especially with such a wordy song. Push the country thing even more – it’s what will make you stand out.

Stanley Berk – Fantastic vocal, great range. A really committed, passionate performance but the cover is dated and popular. The song choice didn’t show us much personality or individuality. Click here on tips on how to do a creative cover. Try to be as confident with the lower notes as you are with the longer, bigger notes.

JC – Great rapping. You have a great stage presence and the ability to control and hype up a massive crowd. Catchy song! Try not to slip into cliché lines at the end - keep it original as that was the stronger element to your performance. Work on making the track a little more contemporary and the hook in the chorus stronger.

Gamble – Great lyrics and flow. Have less vocal on the track. Work on your performance skills now as visually the performance needed more going on on-stage. Maybe a co-singer to engage with or dancers? Click here for advice on stage performance. Be confident in your performance and trust your ability.

CJ Reardon – Great look and lovely song – it really suited your vocal. The song’s hook needs to be catchy for instant impact and to make the song stick in your head and be a hit. Your performance and delivery was very mature. Now work on your performance skills and pushing your vocal even more! Click here for advice on stage performance.

J Gordon – Strong, catchy song. Solid vocals – have confidence in your voice! The lyrics were a little repetitive. Try and engage more as performers as you didn’t at all. Click here for advice on stage performance. Work on your on-stage persona/brand. Your facial expressions were excellent. Vocal dynamics could have been stronger for more emphasis on the chorus. Click here for advice on dynamics.

London Taylor – Very confident on stage. Good use of a prop at the start. Don’t let the performance take over the vocals though! Your song suited your voice. You did your best to stand out from the crowd.

London music events – Open Mic UK singing competition

Charlie Parris – Near perfect vocal with a deep and rich vocal. Distinct style. Great tone and vocal control. Mic control was excellent. The performance was a little stiff. Work on facial expressions now. Click here for advice on using facial expressions whilst performing and click here for advice on stage performance.

Nate Austin – You’ve got a really good stage presence. A committed performance and strong guitar work. It’s a nice song but not a song that will be in my head in the morning which a hit song needs, click here for advice on writing songs.

Juliet Fellerman – Great vocal range. Not sure what song really worked when you stripped it down acoustically, click here for advice on the importance of song choice. Get closer to the mic you are moving away from it too much and thus no consistency in your sound level.

Burridge – Interestingly, we instantly remembered the song from the audition. You have the right idea with a repetitive hook enough to hook you but not enough to be annoying. Instant image to leave a good overall impression.

Penelope – Great stage performance. Good you performed and used the stage but it was a dated performance. Look back at the footage and review whether the facial expressions conveyed the emotion in the song.

Toria J – Booming vocal with effortless control. Look to use that stage more and more dynamics would really emphasis the range of the song, click here for tips on vocal dynamics. Your vocal was a very upfront vocal.

Emily – Nicely sung but you needed to give it more dynamic range, click here for tips on vocal dynamics.  To improve your performance try working your projection to really take it to the next level, click here for advice on improving your projection.

L Kassidy – A really cool version loved it! Your image doesn’t match your style, click here for advice on image. It felt like really awkward how far apart they were but to take away nothing from the creative cover and delivery which was exceptional! Did need a breakdown and or change up as did become a little samey!

Matt Stokl – Very unique delivery, not sure what the song was about? And it did get a bit repetitive after a while so consider dynamics to keep the interest flowing, click here for tips on vocal dynamics. Try to avoid coming across as ‘shouty’, click here for advice on improving your projection.

Kay Doggz – Confident on stage. Potential is there but the song is too repetitive, think of some additional hook lines to replace some of the ‘rosé’ being repeated. Also keep to the original rather than rapping lines of other songs keep committed and confident in your song.

Jay Akademik – To strengthen your performance you need to coordinate your act as it let you down. Film your practice and performances and analyse until perfect. Individually good but need to engage and bring it collectively. Remember that you’re a group so you need to show that, click here for tips on duos or groups.

Mia Laurent – The bridge of your song and the way you lead it in is awesome but the chorus is a little weak but huge potential in the song. The commitment and the emotion you brought to the song was exceptional. Work on the bridge on fire section and you have a hit on your hands. Vocally keep focused as you did lose control perhaps work on your breathing and fitness as the song is demanding.

Matthew Douglas – A comfortable and cool performance. Good use of projection but don’t forget to have a lyrical hook that stays in your head. Work on your diction to improve further, click here for advice on having good diction.

Romy – Your personality really came through during the performance. Musically very good and loved the song. Good committing to the performance. Try to engage more with each other on stage and also with the audience.
