London Music Opportunities - Under 16's Feeback
Anisha Melody - Always difficult to open the show. Great delivery, with emotion and some soul coming through. Very relaxing! Keep working on the technical consistency and scope for greater assurance. Song was captivating and you did well to hold tempo. Well done Anisha. Top half today.
Caroline Eva - Good range, dynamic shape evident, technically promising. (Great original – something to develop there for sure!) Secure guitar accompaniment. Liked this Caroline, scored generally well across the judges. More experience required to enhance communication in delivery.
Nicola - Great attempt of an ambitious song, powerful vocal, tone mostly controlled, a degree of expression added character. Confident presence – well done here. Aim for greater technical accuracy and consistency, especially in the big notes! Give thought to song choice to suit your strengths, click here for more on the importance of song choice.
Ollie Gray - Well done Ollie! Nice touches e.g. pitch slides added something individual. Scope for more confidence and stage presence, and in particular what to do in those parts when not singing. Hope you had a great experience– you deserved your place in the Regional final and nailed a great song.
Tirion - Good range, not quite as secure at or about the break, but promising. Beginnings of communication, and melisma definitely added something to help you stand out. (Not over done also – well done here). Try and develop technical consistency and work on your diction as it was not always clear today. Greater experience and training will assist this.
Talla Slatter - Lovely tone, clear, strong vocal. Scored well across the judges. Top half today for sure. Aim for greater confidence and stage presence, and how you can achieve an edge, building on top of a promising technical foundation. Will be interesting to see how you progress.
Rosie Hickley - Like this! Good choice of song, nice shaping to phrases, ostinatos presented with control, timing and rhythmic use instinctively shown. Expression also evident – marvelous to see this musicality at such a young age! You did well - keep working on a clear ability whatever the outcome today.
Iris Prentice - Struggled in lower range – watch song choice, but had something! Click here for more on the importance of song choice. Confidence in presentation, a degree of stage craft too, try to develop this, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Have a think about image also, even at this young age, to align with what you are trying to achieve. Have a think about your style, and prepare an overall package, not just the technical components of the song itself.
Alice - Well done to recover manage the mistimed opening – be assured it has happened to us all! The more of these experiences you have the easier it will become. You settled well, and the song was well paced and controlled, especially given the nerves, click here for some tips on dealing with nerves. Tone was also well controlled in this respect too. Overall you connected with the song – well done.
Tams - Great opening! Great song choice! Confident, poised and controlled. Liked the attention to image, communication and stage presence. Could sense a ‘storyteller’ approach, almost a hint of emotion, and with the beginnings of body language which helped to ‘paint’ the words. Sustained notes nearly fully held with tone controlled. Numerous aspects of technical security at this stage, (although keep up the training of course). Well performed!
Sophia - Exactness of intonation and intervallic movement needed to settle, but well prepared and creditable consideration given to individuality – definitely the right thing to do! Technical foundation does need building to keep up with your sense of performance and presentation. Watch sustained notes and plosives into the mic in particular, click here for more on how a good singing teacher can assist with your development.
Daria - Great song choice for you…nailed it! Challenging song also. There is something here, and a developing artist I would like to see again. Give thought to image and how this reflects a chosen style. More experience is needed to make the most of the stage, but the foundation of a secure act is very much in progress here, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Take some advice as to commercial implications and continue to build on the technical work.
Kate Devlin - Great image, technically mostly consistent and secure, some nice work around the break, and dynamic shape with individual touches / expression added something interesting here. Creditable original too, always brave to showcase with your own material, but I can safely say this worked for you today. Watch diction in places though.
Rebecca Harris - Scope for greater engagement and communication – a bit reserved today! Cannot help but feel there is more to you, but technically strong, clear evidence of character and ability on show. Seems to me you were so keen to nail the piece you forgot about the audience! Develop the confidence to perform with this in mind, and use the stage to a greater extra also, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. All this said, excellent. Strong act overall!
Ameile-Rose - A great performance, super cool…! Mixture of style, ability and excellent song choice. Clearly a performer and a desire there, which is individual and captivating. You were very unlucky not go through today, scoring very well indeed with the judges, just missing out. Make the most of the showcase opportunity, definitely one to watch. Well done Amelie-Rose!
Charlee Jay - Great energy in your performance. You sang really well and scored in the top 5 in the judges marks. On another day you may well have gone through, but a tough completion today with only 3 places up for grabs! You presented with confidence, poise, ability and a degree of stage presence. Scope to keep developing of course, but I would be very interested to see you again. Well done.
London Music Opportunities - 16-20 Feeback
Eden - Good voice, phrase shaping and tone consistency. Effective song choice too. Have a think about how image aligns with your chosen style, and whilst body language was good, scope for greater stagecraft and communication with the audience, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Occasional pitch slip too. Well done overall though Eden, keep going!
Evalina - Nice vocal tone, well delivered. Tasteful word painting, and consideration given to image. Technical security on display, with expression and colour. Overall, this was a good attempt, which would benefit from a commercial edge to go to the next level. Hope the showcase opportunity can help you develop from here.
Caroline Rose - Aim to engage with the music from the very beginning, especially in a lengthier introduction requiring no singing parts – (the first few moments are very important to set the tone of an act!), click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Once settled, you did justice to the song, performed with technical security, character and mood. You have something Caroline, would like to see a wider set.
Scartlett-Rose - Portishead quality to the intro track, then subsequent music, which contrasted very well. Liked the image too. Stage work could be more effective, I personally liked the sultry, almost arms length, approach which was stylistic, but could easily be mis-perceived as tentative or at worst a little disinterested. Suggest greater engagement and stage presence even if you keep this general approach. Good vocal and interesting act. Split the judges!
Deon – Soulful, filled the room, big song, performed well. Good delivery with vocal security clearly on show. Attention given to image, and you have clearly given thought to song choice to showcase effectively. Many strong aspects here Deon, a degree of individuality also. Deserves to go through to the Area final. Well done. (Amazing shoes!)
C - Magnificent image, suited the style, good song choice, within your range, and a good example of not needing to belt to seek to impress. A very strong act today, lovely tone, controlled, with stage presence (albeit aim for greater stage craft, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer). Hint of emotion added character and you definitely have something as a performer and artist. Commercial potential too. Excellent!
4 Lore - Nice vocal blending, good performance, well prepared. Lovely individual tones, gentle body movement gave an underlying continuity which worked for you. Great tempo, image was considered but try to align more as a group, with a stronger sense of chemistry and a clearer message about your style. Tidy, with more work needed overall.
Cassia - Great vocal! Lovely tone. Attention given to image and you scored highly in part, splitting the judges. There is something here Cassia, top half for sure - I really wanted more of a performance from you! Click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Try to develop a commercial edge and greater sense of stylistic identify. I hope you take advantage of the showcase opportunity to help you! One to watch!
Rhymia - Lovely image, suiting your song choice. You performed with technical security and there was a clear ability but try to relax! Scope for greater stage presence and stagecraft. You now need to package the act overall to ensure a commercial identity and greater sense of performance. Split the judges!
Harry Miles - Well recovered Harry – be proud of yourself! Second attempt did you more justice. You clearly gave this your best shot, and deserved your place in the Regional Final. Some nice ideas, and I hope you enjoyed the experience and can take away a number of areas to work on. You have personality in bundles, continue the vocal training, develop your stagecraft, and keep at it, building as a performer. Good luck!
Serena - Initial blip handled smoothly, lovely voice! Captivating, individual, great original. Creditable conveyance of mood, technically secure. Will need more of a commercial edge to go to the next level, but impressive foundation and component parts on display. You were 4th overall on the judges scores and unlucky not to go through. Hope the showcase opportunity will help your development.
Amber Louise - Captured the mood and audience in the first moments. Well done here - important skill. Good song choice at an appropriate tempo and dynamic consideration helps. You need to give thought to image, and even though you are occupied playing keys also, you need to engage more with the audience. Think about accompaniment to allow you to do this? You are an act with potential which can be developed. Hope the showcase opportunity helps you.
Fawaz - Last but not least! You need to have an edge in your style, something to stand out in a saturated genre. The big factor here was the original song, which added to your commercial viability as an act. Good stage presence, engaging and you communicated with your audience. Give thought to image, watch diction/exactness of timing on occasion, but overall a strong act and deserving of the area final. (Don’t forget to smile!)
London Music Opportunities - 21 and Over Feeback
Wayne Jacobs - Well handled introduction after technical hitch - very cool! Nice piece nicely performed. Watch plosives into the mic, give thought to image and there is scope for a greater sense of performance, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Have a think about opportunities to enhance commercial potential. Tidy delivery though.
Malacki - Great stage presence, engaging and you communicated both mood and lyrics with conviction. Body language and word painting was well presented. Will need a greater edge to stand out in this genre, and scope for greater attention to image. Watch ending as well - try to align with the track for greater polish - but a strong act today.
Chantelle Baylis - This delivery was promising, with conviction and personality. Stage presence would benefit from greater development, and whilst a good song, not sure the backing track complimented the delivery. Have a think about image also. (Watch consistency of intonation and intervallic placement).
Lauren Rose - Engaging performance, confident and creditable song choice. Thought has been given to image (liked the look), and there were numerous secure aspects to this delivery, but may well need a greater musical edge to compete. Overall, scored well with the judges - a stronger act today.
Ross Findley - The new Bryan Adams! Great voice, easy story telling approach. Image worked in the context, although still scope for something a little more commercial. Take some advice here. Technically secure, good guitar accompaniment. Performance was ok, really wanted you to connect more, to do yourself justice. Work on vocal dynamic shaping. Overall, yes, definitely some potential.
Jadeen - Great image, lovely tone, and well considered song choice. Would love to see more connection with the audience, and a greater sense of performance, there is something here to build on,click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Scored well across the judges – commercial potential should be explored further.
Pheobe Spinks - Great personality! Liked the confident introduction, and the easy way of dealing with the, erm…. shall we say…technical hitch! Loved the image, technically secure, with a degree of expression – aim to develop this even further. You have promise and I would like to see a wider repertoire.
Coffee - Composed introduction, beautiful voice, presentation, projection and personality. Engaging, expressive. You could be a very soulful singer – try and move in this direction? You have something Coffee, this was a very good performance indeed. Good luck in the next round.
Blessing K - Great song choice, excellent stage performance, and vocals to match. Love the moves! On another day you could easily have gone through in the judges scores alone, but you had tough competition today. Perhaps just a finer degree of polish and more experience needed to be even more convincing. (Good camera work though!). You deserve the showcase opportunity – hope you make the most of it.
Gianluca Gallo - Good introduction, capturing the audience with the rationale for the song, and well delivered overall. Strong rhythmic use, liked the chorus. Fun song! A good combination of vocal ability and song writing, although give thought to image and stagecraft. Overall, tidily communicated Gianluca, split the judges…. (Just a hint of stereophonics in there?)
Fabio - Likeable elements to this Fabio. Tone consistency and control needed to settle, but good song choice with fair image. Ambitious technical performance, which you handled creditably, becoming more confident and secure as you progressed. Engaging, and definite potential here. Another act which split the judges.
Sam Walker - Liked the look and easygoing personality. Song choice clearly worked for you, and the genre would suit you in modern context. Musical, secure, clear sense of effortlessness and you looked at home on stage. Scored very well across the all the judges and deserve to go through to the Area Final. Well done Sam!
Sia Kaya - Great style, communication, attention to image, confidence, conviction and sense of performance. Fun song! Technically secure, and individuality evident. This was a strong performance, scoring well with the judges. I hope you take the opportunity of the showcase to help you develop your work.
GB - Great stage presence, and your performance was technically strong. There was not much not to like about this delivery, but on balance there needs to be a greater edge to stand out in your genre. Another creditable delivery which was enjoyable and competed well. Scored well from most judges.
A100 - Used the stage well, confident, good communication. Good attitude too. Vocal style needs to be a bit tighter – your approach could easily be mis-perceived e.g. it could be seen as lost tone quality in sustained notes, or requiring pitch adjustments. It’s great (and important) to seek individuality in expression, but try to ensure your ability is clearly shown too.
Xiomara - Excellent image, suiting the style, very communicative, and you engaged with the audience. Well done here! Numerous very good elements to your performance which was well prepared and considered. Powerful voice, (occasionally thin in the context of the backing in part – try to develop this), but confident, dramatic and deserving to be through to the next round. Well done.
Atlanta Rose - Confident, very good command of stage, liked the image, and there was a continuous sense of communication, including in the non-singing parts. Backing was well put together to complement the powerful vocal, but be careful you do not overdo the intensity which did detract a little. Looked almost as if you were trying too hard. Tricky balance I know.
Sophie Simonds - Loved the sax! Great addition to the piece, adding interest. Very good vocally, possibly the best in show… I just wanted this delivery to take off and captivate me. More importantly, I wanted to warm to the act, but just couldn't quite get there! Definitely one to watch. I can only suggest you need to think about your repertoire and really identify with a genre and adopt a more inclusive communication style.
Emma Hunter - Difficult song executed very well! Always difficult to be the last performer but you held it together very well, with a great performance, and you looked like you were enjoying it! (makes a big difference – easy to warm to…). Stagecraft could be worked on and a greater commercial edge would benefit, but good voice and deserving of a showcase opportunity, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer.
