London Music Opportunities - Under 16's Feeback
Amy Hardman - Always difficult to open the show! Nice delivery, with some emotion coming through. Do aim to use the stage more - with greater experience the stagecraft and overall presence/conviction will develop, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Try also to enjoy the performance more! Nerves and tentativeness does show, click here with some tips on dealing with nerves.
Havanna - Nice vocal, some lovely shaping and use of phrasing and expression. Lovely touches. Again, scope for greater use of stage, presence and give greater thought to image, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Would be interested to see again when you have more closely identified a style which works for you.
Arya - Love the image which suited your chosen genre entirely - well done here. Great vocal, and very good backing too. There was not much not to like about this act Arya, although give thought to song choice in relation to your range, click here for more on the importance of song choice. Easily one of the stronger acts today.
Giacomo - Loved it! Great male solo artist, lovely vocal, individual colouring. Looked comfortable, great backing material, nice head voice to close. Scope to build on this strong foundation with even greater sense of engagement and attention to your audience, but very good indeed.
Ella - Lovely vocal, confident performance, fair image. With your ability at your age you need to thing about the overall package – what will give you the edge to compete in a commercial environment? Image forms part of that thinking even at this stage. Definitely one to watch.
Whitney O’Nicholas - Wow! Nailed it. Well delivered, performed with a sense of drama and communication. Engaging, huge voice. Above all, you were confident, and have clearly taken time to work on an image and style which generally works for you. Remember to keep gaining experience and keep up the vocal training, click here for more on how a good singing teacher can assist with your development. Strong act today.
Cindy - Well done Cindy! Great tune, well delivered, scope for slightly stronger vocal, but suited your image and personality. Clearly a stronger act, and you scored well across the board. To go further you need more of a competitive and commercial angle. You are an entertainer already, now give thought as to an edge to take you to the next level.
On Fleek - Enjoyed this! Nice duo, nice blending, harmonies mostly there, big voices. You have got a lot there on offer between you. You need to have a think about your image, and perhaps even song choice, click here for more on the importance of song choice. Plus try to make more use of the stage. However, this was a confident delivery and you have something solid to building on, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer.
Alani - Liked the original! Much here to be proud of Alani. In truth, the risk with own compositions is that they might not necessarily do justice to you as a singer and performer. Have a think about image also. In short, clearly able, a future lies ahead of you, but try to focus on your performer showcase, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Split the judges!
Savanah - Liked the look and how confident for your age. Wow! Mic technique distracted a little, but this will come with age and experience, click here for more on microphone technique. Keep up the vocal training also and as you develop, have a think about your style and genre which bests suits. Well done Savanah, one to watch.
Jade Tedaldi - Brother and sister! Love it. Great use of bass to contrast with the guitar parts - really liked this. Technically secure for the most part, and confident in front an audience. Do have a think about image and style, and try to interact more. Shame you don't both sing together more! Needs more polish and packaging to reach the next level.
Rachael - Comfortable performance, good voice. Loved the image and confidence. Make the most of the stage and watch song choice. An ambitious track in low range which was (sorry) a bit thin, but there is clearly an ability here and even some commercial potential. Delivered with expression and personality. Split the judges today!
Harry Still - Good attempt at a duo, liked the fact you are friends! Needed more musical connection and blending between guitar tone and overall phrasing. Confidence increased as you progressed, but do try to engage more with the audience and each other. Image was OK, now have a think about how this can be more stylistic.
Holly - Lovely image, nice vocals and creditable guitar work. Some dynamic shaping too. There is promise here! Felt the delivery overall was slightly rushed – slow down and try to enjoy it more! With greater experience and confidence would be interested to see again. Take the experience as a very positive one, you did a great job - keep going Holly!
Lucie Ann - Powerful voice, great composure! Wasn't sure whether the backing dropping out was a technical glitch, but on realizing it was made this delivery even more impressive! Well done, very individual and clearly confident on stage. Your next level will need to include thought about a stylistic image/package and try and make greater use of stage, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Strong act today Lucie Ann, well improvised and well done.
Scarlet - Liked the tone and voice, guitar work, personality and range. Try not to be defensive by opening a piece of work with what you are NOT going to do, (be proud of what you ARE going to!). Not every pitch was exact today, but do you know what? This had sparkle. A degree of something undefinably special. Scored well across the judges.
Rebecca CP - Strong opening to this delivery, immediately capturing attention with nice vocal style and tone. Watch accuracy of intonation consistently throughout. Great change of style, very effective here but try however to use the stage more and watch image, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer. Many secure and strong aspects - split the judges today!
Perdy - Nailed it! Loved it! You have something clearly individual Perdy. You held the stage, the room, and the mood, with a composure, a story telling style and confidence. Good luck in the next round. Amazing for someone so young - very good indeed. (Fantastic song – go for the Songwriting Competition too!)
Oscar - Great attempt, liked the original. Keep up with the vocal training, and have a think about a song which showcases your ability to a greater degree. You were secure, with general scope for greater confidence, engagement and expression But this said, a good performance and delivery. Hope you enjoyed the experience and do come back – would like to see how things develop.
Dia - Strong vocal, liked the image, nice shaping to phrases and confidence at the front of the stage. Try to make more use of the extent of stage, and whilst communication and engagement was clearly there, try to extend overall stage presence. Good song choice, which you nailed. Scope for a commercial edge - there are so many strong performers in your genre – but well done Dia, a stronger act today.
Tara - Wow! One of the few to score very well with the judges across the board. In a number of ways this was heading more in the direction of a professional performance. Confident, great presence, effective dynamic shaping and sense of musicality evident. Competent keyboards, and engaging sense of expression and colour. Very good Tara.
London Music Opportunities - 21 and Overs Feeback
Jean Mickhael - Loved the voice, range, tempo, and tone. Effective material too. Have a think about how image aligns with your chosen style, and whilst body language was good, scope for greater confidence, stagecraft and communication with the audience. Well done overall though…!
Chris Taylor - Nice vocal tone, securely delivered technically. Consideration was given to image, with some expression and colour evident. Overall, your performance would benefit from greater assurance and audience engagement. Have a think about what to do in the non-singing parts also, click here for more on performing on stage as a singer.
Michaela James - Very committed delivery! There is a danger with intense performances such as that artists come across as trying too hard. Try to maintain a balance here. I am sure there is a greater warmth and personality which was hidden today. Technically strong, but split the judges! Suggest a review of overall approach and communication style.
Tom Nied - Nice guitar work and tone! This delivery needed to settle, and demonstrated musicality and greater security when it did. Give thought to the style you are seeking to achieve and how this links with image and song choices. Think about how to use the stage to greater and more confident extent also.
Michael - Love it! Expressive, convincing and good song choice for your range and sense of expression. Great attempt to communicate and deliver with engagement and a sense of passion, without trying too hard. Technically secure, scored well across the judges. Good luck in the area final.
Lamsi - Good attempt to be original, like the music choices and strong look. Lost a little by being nervous, click here for some tips on dealing with nerves. There is something here though to develop, you need to aim for greater conviction and stage presence. With greater experience and training plus greater confidence with an audience I can see this developing into an interesting act.
J Min - Creditable attempt to interpret such a well-known original. Just a hint of Bjork in approach, communication style and harmonic re-working. The delivery was very individual, so there is always a risk that it will be well received by some and not by others and sure enough it split the judges. Well done though for such a personalised version – definitely a good approach. Careful you are not too niche unless this is the intention.
Sonny Palmer - Nice voice, secure delivery, safe and comfortable. Wanted there to be an extra component to ‘wow’ me, to really get going and give me something more. This said, there is an entertainer here who will be successful in your chosen genre. Have a think about a commercial and individual edge to move to the next level.
Joel Stewart - First act today to achieve audience participation – well done here! Liked the up-tempo music choice which suited you and clearly a strength. Commercially will need an angle, something extra, to achieve the next musical and competitive level, and there is scope for greater projection, assurance and presence on a bigger stage, but well done. You will always have an audience!
Joe Peace - Looked good, nice vocal, technically comfortable. With some advice and a targeted look at your range and possible repertoire. I can see potential here. A degree of expression added character, and dynamic shaping was considered. Good song choice for you in this context of competition showcasing. Well done Joe, solid delivery, and a sparkle. Good luck in the next round.
Bianca - You looked fabulous! (but at the same time forgive me a little dated?) Mature performance overall, considered, well prepared and you nailed it. Not sure about the material though. Not sure it did you justice! Scored well across the judges and we feel there is something there to develop. Hope you take the showcase opportunity.
Infecta - Great work! You know your genre and you are clearly comfortable and secure stylistically. One of the first people in this show who look like they are really enjoying the performance. This comes through and is important to help engage with your audience and achieve conviction. Like the rap, scope to work on the vocals overall. Well done.
Harrison - Like the authenticity and intention. Nice story telling approach too. A young Sinead O’Connor in fact! Sweet country vocals, technically on point but needs something extra. Try to find a musical or commercial angle to take you to the next level. Secure overall Harrison.
Dex - Nice tone and comfortable delivery. Vocals felt rushed, not sure if that’s a result of nerves? Click here for some tips on dealing with nerves. You settled and the song went on and the increase in confine improved technical accuracy and tone control. Will need something extra to be able sufficiently convincing to move to the next musical and competitive level. A little safe, but something there to work on.
Shane Orielly - Like the vocal tone and nice guitar work. I think you have something - confident and entertaining. You do need to work in image and try to establish stronger sense of stylistic identify. The opening was not convincing also unfortunately - took a while to settle and then a lengthy opening. The opening few seconds are important to set the tone and win over the audience. Overall, security there, with work required.
David Van Hoskins - Your look suited your chosen genre, but (and not at all trying to be personal) be careful it is not too outdated! It may well restricts your commercially viability. You are clearly good at what you do though and you will attract an audience with targeting. Promising aspects to day, including secure vocally, confident, and a good delivery.
Ghetto Boy Green - Strong identity, good tempo, consistent tones, good breathing and clarity. You are comfortable with what you do and will attract a following. You also have an assured presence, used the stage fairly well and did well to maintain energy levels. This said, have a think about a vocal break – the piece became a bit too long without contrast! (Watch plosives into the mic).
Elmo - Liked the original! Confident opening, technically able, strong in your style. The overriding issue for the judges was that the delivery was just a bit too intense! Try to relax, and even within your genre sing through a smile and with some space. By wearing sunglasses throughout, it also makes it difficult to fully connect. There is promise here, but needs an overhaul of approach to fully find it.
Alex Lang - Well done - you dealt with the difficult bit at the beginning! Agree the backing was terrible but a great vocal! In the context of the competition, overall quality suffered with the backing and also the defensive tone at the beginning. Plus you also need to work on image. But do you know what? You have something Alex! Very likeable. Hope you take advantage of the Showcase opportunity.
Nikki Brown - Great attitude, cool look, a bit of star quality here! You know how to work a stage. Unfortunately, vocals were not as strong– try to develop this side of things, but good rapping. There are a number of things to like about this Nikki, and with some work and polish I would be interested to see how you develop. Hope you take advantage of the Showcase opportunity.
Shayan - Liked the look and vocal tone! Try however to connect more with the audience from the earliest moment. Engagement improved as you become more confident – but it is important to establish a relationship with the audience before heading too far into the mood of the song. Secure technically, expressively, and whilst you have a developing style, image needs to align more closely with musical identity. Split the judges!
BOTA - Strong act Bota! Liked this a lot. You have a unique identity, great stage presence, and this was a well-chosen song. A technically comfortable and consistent delivery. There needs to be greater work on image to marry with your chosen style, but a very good communicator and performer.
Grace - Good attempt Grace! Liked the choice of material, you were vocally secure and made efforts to engage successfully with the audience. Image needs to align with a clearer style and identity, and there needs to be more a commercial edge to really compete, but you nailed the delivery and deserved your place in this regional final. Well done.
Fizzle - Liked the vocal tone and the warmth and liked the amount of thought which went into the different styles and approach as an overall showcase. There was much to like about this Fizzle. Initially, I thought the original was a little safe –was waiting for the ‘wow’ factor, but then it came! Great work, definitely something here to build on. Well done
Cash Casino - Liked the energy, performance and thought which went into backing. A bit ‘shouty’ in places to be fair, but strong in your genre. Give thought to image and try to polish the flow of the performance, but a stronger act today. Scored well across the judges. Definitely a top half act today.
