Manchester Auditions: Music industry judges have provided feedback for the singers and songwriters who came to the Manchester auditions at The Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester at the weekend. The Manchester auditions saw bidding singers and songwriters performing in the hopes of gaining a place in Open Mic UK’s Regional Final!

Manchester Auditions - Under 16’s Feedback
Paris Brown – You have a nice image and performed an engaging performance. You oozed confidence and kept eye contact with your audience throughout. Click here for more on eye contact. Your voice has great tone and you have a real commercial sound.
Ellie Munro – Overall you have a great voice. Your projection to the audience was amazing! The main thing you need to work on would be your pitching. However, this did improve as the song went on. Click here for some tips on your vocal dynamics.
Cerys Stockton – You have a really strong voice! Please try to manage your nerves on stage as these made some of your vocals go flat. Have a look at the best ways to calm your nerves. Mahnoor Ahmed – We can see potential in you as you have a great voice. You were also performing with countless styles and riffs which shows your diversity as a singer! Emma Stevenson – You have good control on your voice, making your pitching spot on! Try to remember that you’re singing to entertain, so you need to focus on your stage presence. Lucas Burridge – Wow! Very brave to cover a Bonnie song, but you have the voice to do it! Your projection was great, but try not to over belt. Try to work on your stage performance to make your performance more engaging. Click here for tips on how to improve your performance. Well done!
Georgia Ridehalgh – You have a lovely voice! You have a good range and tone. Try and focus on losing the ‘airy’ sound. You will be a great singer when you try and include some engaging body language. Click here for ways on improving your body language and audience engagement.

Matthew Bown – You have a really strong voice! The song didn’t show your voice off to its best ability. Looking into choosing the right song choices would help you performance. You can control your voice very well but please be aware of the tension in your jaw. Overall, your projection and voice were great!

Jessie Curley - Lovely tone, good projection and range. Be careful to watch your tempo consider practicing with a metro nome so don’t wander too off with your timing. Performance is the area to develop and to really use all your tools to convey the emotion in the song, it’s subtle, great you are standing to perform but move your body click here for more on playing guitar.
