MILTON KEYNES MUSICIANS WANTED TO IMPRESS

Musicians wanted to impress music industry judges at the Milton Keynes Open Mic UK auditions, who have provided feedback for the Under 16 acts!

Milton Keynes musicians wanted to impress: National singing competition Open Mic UK held auditions at Milton Keynes C.C. this weekend in a search for the region’s best singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and vocalists. The Milton Keynes musicians wanted to impress, as with a place in the Open Mic UK 2014 Regional Finals up for grabs, the acts that auditioned had a lot to play for!

The Milton Keynes auditions were judged by music industry specialists who have provided music industry feedback for a selection of acts. The people the Milton Keynes musicians wanted to impress were Big Help Management's and Upstream Producer's Dutch van Spall, singer Hannah Faulkner, producer and presenter for BBC Introducing Allan Dennis, vocal coach Sarah-Louise Campbell and Head of Future Music Chris Grayston

Elizabeth Kinrade – Good projection. Remember to express the emotion in the song to bring the song to life even more. Click here for advice on how to sing with emotion.

Lauren Rogers – Nice rasp to your vocal. Watch your breathing as you looked a little strained in the face at points, so try and relax and go with the flow.

Sapphire Henson – Good vocal control. Unique tone. Watch your eye contact - make it more focused to bring out the emotion of the song. Click here for advice on how to sing with emotion. Song choice was very popular and dated, so click here for our advice on song choice. Try and be more confident, you have the talent!

Eleanor Ireland – There’s potential here. Remember to engage with your audience more rather than looking down at your instrument. Click here for tips on performing visually. Sweet tone but work on the control to be even better.

Rebecca Loveday – Very engaging and confident. Lovely tone and relaxed control. Don’t be scared to use your arms to express the song even more. Click here for tips on performing visually

Lucy Waller – A soft and simple song. Very pure. Nice tone and unique rasp. Remember to start with 100% control.

Harry Mallaghan – Great projection. You showed emotion and engaged well. Great control and tone – very passionate.

Tantrum – There’s lots of potential here and you committed well to the performance. Think about performing more as a duo rather than individuals though – interact with one another. Keep focused on the lyrics throughout as your diction was quite poor. Click here to see ways to improve your diction. Flowed better as the performance went on.

Jazzy B - Vocally you are very strong and have great projection. Your posture looked a little odd and uneasy though. This can be easily sorted if you film yourself to see what’s going on and correct it. Awesome image.

May Hill – You have an amazing voice but now try to find your own style. Click here for some tips on performing a creative cover. You’ve got it, so give us more attitude.

Cameo Williams – Wow, you have a belter of a voice! Very different, I loved it. Great projection. You picked quite a popular song choice, so click here for our advice on the importance of song choice. Great attitude.

Bethan Conneely – You have a strong vocal but watch your control and start to think about originality. Click here for some tips on performing a creative cover.

Holly Ditum – Don’t rush and take care in picking the right song. Click here for our advice on the importance of song choice.

Frankie Warren-Waller – Don’t ever stop! It just highlights any errors even more. You need to find a way to relax. Click here for advice on building your confidence on stage

Georgina Warren-Waller – A confident performance.  Start to think about originality. Click here for some tips on performing a creative cover.

Ellie Ayre – Talented girl – you have a beautiful tone and you can definitely hit the high notes very effortlessly! Take care with your control and diction which a good vocal coach will be able to help you with. Click here to see the benefits of singing lessons and click here to see ways to improve your diction.

Chloe Ayre – Nicely sung but you need to connect more with the song emotionally and make sure you’re expressing the emotion. Click here for advice on how to sing with emotion.

Milton Keynes singers wanted – feedback continued

Lashayah – Nice vocals and a great range. Such a big voice for someone so young! Your song choice was very uninspiring, dated and very popular however. Click here for our advice on the importance of song choice. Try and work on your projection now.  Great image, loved the outfit.

Jasmin Donavan – Image, vocals and performance = you could be the full package! You gave a polished performance and had great projection. Try to feel the song now – give us more passion. Click here for advice on how to sing with emotion. Try and control your volume levels from high to low as it comes across as shouting otherwise.

Lana – Great stage presence – you were very engaging. Awesome original song. Now just work on your dynamics to bring out the chorus and hook lines even more. Click here for advice on how to sing with emotion.

Ryana – Perfect song choice. Try and give us more passion and emotion – there’s definitely something there. Click here for advice on how to sing with emotion. Great outfit. Good control.

Tia Bennett – Vocally you  were very good but your song choice wasn’t great, as it’s done too much. Perform it differently from how the original artist performs it. Click here for some tips on performing a creative cover. Look to work on improving your projection to be even better.

Naomi Sklar – Wow, what an impact! Perfect control. Felt the passion – you demonstrated this with your facial expressions and your hands. Remember to slow down in places.

Chloe Purkiss – Practice the song without earphones! You’ll be able to hear yourself a lot better. If you keep rehearsing and practicing a lot more you’ll gain the confidence you need. Click here for advice on building your confidence on stage

Katie Leeming – Beautiful voice, but remember to look up and engage with your audience as you looked down throughout. Click here for tips on performing visually. More performance experience will build that confidence.

Remix – You guys work well together as a group. The image needs work. Click here for advice on synchronising your act image. Liked the rap breakdown. Now work on building up the harmonies - you’re a big group and there should be more vocal depth created through harmonies.

Lauren Flower – You have a belter of a voice! Great presence. Your chorus was on point. Well done on a fantastically performed audition!

Nicole Donovan – Your song choice really suited your vocal and you really connected with the song. Great show of emotion. Hold the powerful notes for the chorus. Build the song - don’t give us too much too soon. Great image.

Hannah Power – Song choice is everything and you picked a big song to sing. You lacked a little control on the high notes.

Paighton – Great song choice. Engage with your audience more. Click here for tips on performing visually. Try and connect with the emotion in the song to really help us connect with you. Click here for advice on how to sing with emotion.

Isobelle Power – Very theatrical! You sung to the wall a lot rather than engaging your audience. Click here for tips on performing visually.

Emma McGrath – Great original – catchy. Awesome arrangement of song – perfect! Great stage presence. A strong performance backed up with strong dynamics.

Vicky Louise Sherwin – You have a lovely tone but you just lacked a little confidence. Click here for advice on building your confidence on stage

Katelyn Dye – You’re fantastic for 10 years old but you just need a bit more development and practice and you will be there.

Alana Parkhurst – Your song choice wasn’t the best - you struggled to hit the high notes. Click here for our advice on the importance of song choice

Jasmine Oakley – Good audition, you have a beautiful tone and great control. Great stage presence. Love the vibe – jazzy/soulful voice. Stick with this style. Remember your strap next time and check your guitar tuning just before you are about to perform.

Adrianne –You had a powerful start which gave a great impact. You have a great range!
