Milton Keynes Talent Contest – Feedback
Mea-Ellease – You have a nice, powerful voice, but don’t ever apologise if you mess up slightly as you just bring attention to it when we may have not have noticed it. Make sure you keep the mic really close to your mouth so we can hear the full power of your voice, click here for advice on microphone technique for singers. Try and work on your breathing technique as you weren’t taking enough breath which is why you struggled at places, click here for more on breath control exercises. Continue performing as this will then enable you to overcome your nerves.
Shanice Forster – Really cool quirky image. Although you could work on strengthening your guitar skills, it was great that you weren’t looking down at your guitar and connecting with your audience. Great to see you smiling and looking like you were really enjoying yourself. This song really suits your vocals, just be careful to project your vocal and not shout at times, click here for more on how to achieve better vocal projection. You came across very confident which was nice, so well done.
Katya – Well done for moving around and making the use of that stage. Good eye contact and connection to your audience. You have a lovely voice, but you would benefit from some vocal lessons to really help you strengthen your projection, click here more on the importance of singing lessons. Great to see your confidence grow as you got into the song. A vocal coach could bring you to the next level.
Tegan Skye – What a beautiful dress, you looked gorgeous and it suited the song well too. Well done for moving around the stage, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. You have such a lovely, delicate voice with a great range. Great to see you smiling and connecting well with your audience. Work on trying to give more of an emotional performance using your vocals.

Luigina – Loved the image! You expressed the story well through your facial expressions. Don’t let the nerves get the better of you, take your time, relax and breathe, to help improve your breath control, click here for breathing exercises for singing. It was very brave to go into acapella half way through, but you kept your pitch well, well done. Good direction with the song and lovely musical theatre tone.
Melissa – Try not to look so nervous, take your time and enjoy yourself. Try and relax more as this can come across when nervous. You have a great vocal range and the song really suited your range. Have more confidence in yourself! Your stage performance will grow the more your perform, click here for more on stage stage performance tips for singers. Remember to smile!
Jamie Walker – Great to see you singing a female lead song, which was very original and different. The only issue with it was when you were singing the chorus, it sounded like you were talking it, which is why it is hard to sing a female song. Try not to look so nervous, try and perform more through the use of your hands and facial expressions click here for more on singing with facial expressions. Good to see you move around the stage though. Remember to smile and show that you are enjoying yourself.
Matilda Pratt – Quirky image. Liked that you slowed the song down and added your own style to it as it a very popular song, so it was nice to hear it performed more originally. Click here for more on performing a creative cover. Well done for taking the mic off the stand and using that stage, you oozzed confidence!
Feedback from the Milton Keynes Talent Contest
Jamie Kieran – Great to kick off the show with an original song! Really nice lyrics and story to the song, would suggest it needs a bit more of a catchier hook though to really make it memorable, click here for more on song structures for singers. Confident guitar skills, nice eye contact and connection to your audience. Well done for professionally working with the slipped mic too! A lot of potential here and you are an exciting prospect.
Aimee – Really like the hippy image. Nice that you put your own twist on the song, it helped that you picked a male vocal lead song to cover. Good eye contact with the audience, but there is so much emotion and passion in this song, you really need to express that in your performance through your facial expressions, click here for more on singing with facial expressions.
Belle Harmonie – Very worked routine and nice synchronisation through your image, you look like a proper group. Great vocal harmonies, just be careful to not over push it with too much going on at once. Click her for tips for duos and groups.
Milton Keynes Talent Contest – Judges’ Feedback
Undivided – You could see that you really connect well together as a duo because you are a couple! Great connection to the song, you portrayed that well through your expressions, which connected you to the audience. A great song for both your voices. It was great that each one of you still performed whilst the other sang. Would advise to work on your harmonies a little more for extra impact, click here for tips for duos and groups.
Tosé – Wow you are such a captivating performer, you drew us in right from the start. Incredible vocals, a very commercial sound, you gave me goosebumps! All the emotion was portrayed in not only your performance but your vocals too. The amazing accompaniment really took the song to another level too. Wow a brilliant performance!
Brian De’Ath – You have such a fun personality and charisma that really shines on stage which is great. Liked that you really performed and used that stage, but remember to perform all the way through the song, even the instrumental parts. Great eye contact with your audience and it was lovely to see you smile, you really looked like you were enjoying every second of it.
Suzie – Try not to look so nervous, have more confidence in yourself as you have a beautiful vocal range and this song really showed that off! Click here for advice on dealing with nerves. You connected to the meaning of the song well and portrayed that well through your facial expressions. Would have been good to see you take the mic off the stand and really work the stage when the song got going to take the performance to the next level, click her for more advice on stage performance tips for singers.
Tatts - Really cool unique image and stage name, which really makes you stand out. Beautiful vocal range and good connection to the song which you portrayed well to the audience. Remember to use that stage to really make the most out of your performance. Click here for tips on stage performance tips for singers.
Lauren – Great to see you performing an original, and the lyrics are good, try and look for that hook to reel people in, click here for tips on song structures for singers. However not quite convinced that your vocals are strong enough to perform it. Make sure that you perform throughout and engage with the audience, click here for tips on audience engagement.
