Luca Howells – Nice song choice something a little leftfield and different from the norm, click here for more on the importance of song choice. Vocally look to work with a vocal coach to extend your range and projection to be even better, click here for the importance of singing lessons. Performance wise try and express a range of emotions to really convince us you are connecting to the song (CG). Good clear voice. You’ve got the confidence to do a live show (SD). A good song choice for your vocal ability. Performance needs a little work but you gave a good audition (TA). Deeper breath control would help (TW).
Felicity Cox – Good commitment to the song. Your hair and make-up looked stunning click here for more on the importance of act image and synchronisation (CG). A rich, soulful voice delivering a heartfelt performance (TW). Nice voice and tone. Great control and great look. Try to relax more and feel the song (TA). You’ve got a strong, confident song (SD).
Music Auditions in Birmingham
Nicole Powell – Ensure you don’t start with your hands behind your back which you later rectified, having good posture is important to getting the most out of your vocal. Liked the song choice but try and add more dynamics and range, click here for more on singing dynamics and changing around. You have potential, keep practising and you’ll be one to watch (SD). Build on your confidence as a performance and connect with your audience more, click here for tips on building your vocal confidence (TA). You have a lovely voice; just watch your control of the higher head voice (TW).
Aishwarya – Song choice was limited it is always going to be difficult to sing that as well as the original and you forced it a little, click here for more on the importance of song choice (CG). Watch your diction as all the words need to be heard, click here for diction for singers. Connect with your song more so you and the audience can feel the emotion in it (TA). You were very good on the high notes (SD).
Rachel Walker – A nervy performance which will easily be ironed out with some more performance experience. Song choice wise, it’s great to pick something you like but you didn’t warm up enough to fully do it justice, click here for more on the importance of song choice and how to warm up your vocals. Work with a vocal coach to improve your range and be even better (CG). You have a delicate and lovely voice in your lower registers, but your head voice needs more power for your song choice (TW). Sweet voice and good breathing technique. Nice light and shade within your vocals and a nice audition (TA).
Jasmine Buckley – Nice vocal control, try and now work on bringing more of a performance together. Use your arms and expression in your face to show us the emotion in the song. Click here for more on singing with facial expression (CG). Really nice, powerful voice. Feel the passion within the song (TA)! Delivered with confidence, you’ve got the basics to improve for the live situation (SD). Your breathing was comprised a little by your nerves; keep your nerves under control to focus on your breathing (TW).
Tiffany Steventon – You have a lovely tone to your vocal, just need to keep developing your projection so we can really hear you. At 8 such potential so keep working on singing as much as you can to be even better (CG). Well done Tiffany! You have a lovely voice and with the right coaching you can really grow in confidence, click here for the importance of singing lessons (TW). An audition of this scale for an 8 year old is a great achievement! A few timing issues but a nice audition (TA).
Open Mic UK’s Music Auditions in Birmingham
Ceri Flanagan – Make use of your eyes and reach out to connect with your audience. Vocally you have a lovely tone try and work on using the dynamics even more in your performance, click here for more on singing dynamics. Performance wise you need to look to express more and convey the emotion in the song even more (CG). You come across as clear and confident, which can only improve as the competition goes on (SD). You have a lovely soft tone; make sure you try not to snatch the end of your phrases (TW). Beautiful voice. Just try to make more of an eye connection with your audience (TA).
Hayley Jones – A very committed performance and performed it like you were on stage. A short performance meant it was a struggle to write too much, however look to play around with the cover and make it your own, click here for more on performing a creative cover (CG). Powerful voice. Full of confidence and has the good groundings to do well (SD). You gave a performance which was full of energy but watch that you don’t lose dynamics; click here more on singing dynamics (TW). Great confidence and a great audition (TA).
Sofi Robinson – You need to use the tools you have at your disposal more your hands and eyes more, click here for more on singing with emotion and click here for more on performing on stage (CG). Nice strong vocals. Just work on having more eye contact with your audience (TA).
Jazmine Banks – Good projection and liked the way you changed it up, although the initial slow, lazy start to the song was a little dull and suited you much better when you changed the song up. Be aware not to look down to much at your playing and convey more with your audience (CG). A soulful performance of a contest classic which you made yours- well done (TW). Great confident performance. My favourite audition so far! More eye contact with the audience please (TA). Had a Spanish feel to it- great audition (DL).
Adam Harris – Watch yourself performing as you are a little hunched and could open up your body to express the message in the song better. Key to be being a rapper is the image, click here for more on act image and synchronisation (CG). Cool rap delivered with attitude. Watch you timing which slips fractionally at times (TW). Make sure to maintain your energy throughout the performance. Diction is so important with rap as the words needs to be heard, click here for more on diction for singers (TA). Good original material, which is good to see. Could have a little more pace at times as it felt a little slow (SD).
Ollie Smith – Guitar sounded crisp and well-tuned. Vocally you have a good tone but try and extend that range and your projection to be even better (CG). You’re going to be one to watch and will only get better as the competition goes on (SD). You’ve got good soul. Keep working on this (DL). Nice to see a guitarist confident in their performance whilst singing. Great connection with the song choice (TW).
Kim Mayes – You’ve picked a popular cover to tackle, so try and pick something wider a field from the crowd, click here for more on the importance of song choice. Try and reach out with your eyes more when performing to help connect with your audience more (CG). Careful with your breathing control. You have a contemporary tone and delivered a strong vocal (TW). You’ve got a great image and a nice tone (DL).

Emma Maclaren – A crisp and well controlled vocal. Be careful not to force the vocal for that extra power otherwise you risk losing that control. When performing theatrical songs it does make it difficult for you to be original so you need to keep that in mind, click here for more on the importance of song choice (CG). This girl will go far, best I’ve seen today (DL). Beautiful, classical voice. You look great and gave a good audition (TA). Great control and a lovey tone! Just watch that the high notes don’t get too harsh (TW).
Rachelle McFarland – You have a deep raspy vocal. Try and work on your expression and dynamics of deliver and this will take you to another level, click here for more on singing with emotion (CG). Good voice. Your interaction was also very good (SD). Nice depth to your voice. Just project your lyrics more and feel the song more (TA). You’ve got a husky lower tone and a powerful upper register. Your vibrato felt a little forced at times (TW).
Lee Smith – Great tone to your vocal but you need to work on the performance and emotion as you are quite motionless, click here for advice on performing on stage (CG). Really good voice for the your genre. Something different for the competition (SD). Felt as if your audition took me on a journey (DL). You’ve got good voice control. You’d sound nice with a church choir (TA). You gave a lovely tone and an accomplished technique. But please don’t stand with your hands in your pockets (TW)!
Holly Evans – Great commitment to the performance and a good connection emotionally to the song. The red hair makes you distinctive, click here for the importance of act image and synchronisation. A big song to audition with which you made a spirited attempt at. Watch that the high notes don’t jump out too much (TW). A great range! Lots of confidence and performs so well (TA).
Phillip Burnham – Nice flow and feel to the song. Vocally look to strengthen your projection to be even better and performance wise look up more and connect with your audience (CG). When playing the guitar, try to be confident enough with your guitar skills that you can look up from the guitar and make eye contact with the audience, click here for more on guitar playing tips (TA). A nice summery tune! Watch your pitching on the higher notes (TW).
Ju Blencowe – If you click here for advice on performing with music keyboards, this may help to connect you with your audience but certainly look up more and engage with your audience. Nice song and with a working of the delivery the chorus could have more impact, click here for more on singing dynamics and delivery (CG). Sensitive delivery of a well-crafted lyric, supported by some nice piano, but overall lacked some impact (TW).
Gary Want – Vocally you come across like a club singer and it would be better if you could come across with your own unique style/vocal. Also it would be beneficial for you to start writing and performing your own songs as it will really broaden up your opportunities (CG). Good, powerful and clear voice. Good at your genre but believe you have the flexibility to do other genres (SD). You have a very rich tone which works well in the lower register. Softening those higher notes would help to add dynamics (TW).
