Newcastle Auditions: At Open Mic UK we provide music industry feedback to all acts that perform in our shows. Below is feedback for acts from the Newcastle Music contest that took place. The music industry judges at the Newcastle auditions included:

  • Helena Davison Webber - Vocal tutor
  • Lloyd Watson - Local entertainment writer who's written for the BBC amongst others
  • Jon Moses - Jesus Christ superstar

Newcastle Auditions - Singing Feedback

Sally Minnett – You have a lovely voice and chose a great song! A very good audition. You have a lot of potential! Try to think more about your stage presence and engaging more with the audience and judges – this will help to enhance your performance. Click here for more on audience engagement. Overall you have a good tone however at times it was a little pitchy. This may have been down to nerves! You can improve this by working on your vocal projection. Tom Smith – Well done for performing an original song that you are able to relate to so much. This really helps to make you unique. You were able to show off your ability to sing and play very well. You have very strong vocals which were really came through, especially in the chorus. Be careful your guitar does not drown out your voice. Paige Makel – Your voice had great potential and you performed well. Overall you gave a good audition! In order to work on nerves on stage you should try and perform more and get as much practise as you can! This will really help to build your confidence as a performer! Click here for more on performing live and for tips on dealing with nerves. Think about picking more of a well-known song that suits your vocals and personality better. This will really help you to engage with the audience more!

Amelia Bennetts – You have a lovely tone and amazing control to your voice for your age! Overall you gave a lovely audition. You had a very powerful voice and great vibrato. To improve further think about working with a vocal coach to help improve on your vocals as they mature. Click here for more on how to pick the right singing teacher. Rebecca Howland – You have lovely and very strong vocals with a great song choice. This really helped you to engage more with the audience! You seemed a little bit nervous so think about working on your confidence on stage and when performing. Click here for more on dealing with nerves and for stage performance tips for singers. You started off very well however seemed to lose concentration towards the end of the performance. Showing more emotional connection to the song and to the performance will help improve this. Rebecca Atkinson – Your performance showed huge potential. You have a great tone and vocal projection which is very important when performing on stage! You appeared a little tense and quite nervous. Newcastle Auditions - Singer's Feedback

Tom Schrouder – You have a great tone, especially in the lower range of notes. Your song choice really enabled you to show off your falsetto voice and your huge potential. Be careful not to rush your performance too much. This may have been down to nerves, however make sure to relax throughout the performance. Click here for more on dealing with nerves. Molly Scott – You have an amazing and powerful voice and gave a very confident performance. You showed great control, especially on the bigger notes. Overall a great audition. You chose a good song to audition with, however next time think about picking a song that is more up to date. This will help you to connect more to the audience and judges. Kenza Limam – You have a great image and tone which worked really well with your personality and your song choice. It was a difficult song to perform however the next step will be to try to think about showing off your sensitivity and emotion of the song more in the performance. Isobelle Faulkner – You have a lovely voice and performed a very good audition. You seemed a little nervous to begin with however once your confidence built your voice was really able to flourish. Scarlett Ellis – Your performance was very strong. You have a lovely tone to your voice and showed great expression throughout your performance which is very important. Anna King – You have a really lovely tone and very smooth vocals. To make sure you improve even more think about your performance on stage to help you to connect with your audience more. Newcastle Auditions – Feedback for singer's

Ella Brown – You gave a really lovely performance and acted out the song very well. You have great potential however it would have been nice to hear more from you vocally, especially in vocal range and dynamics. This would have really enhanced your performance. Elisha Lang – You have an amazing and powerful voice with great vibrato and a lot of potential. You performed a nice audition. You really came to life on the top notes and seemed very confident however the lower notes were quieter and your confidence appeared to drop when singing the lower vocals. Olivia Carey – You have a lovely controlled voice and performed a good cover. You have a great image and performed very confidently, however maybe performed the wrong song for your personality and vocals. Alicia Todd – You performed a very big song and executed it very well. Your vocals were very powerful and singing looked very natural and effortless! Your performance was full of emotion. Greg Genre – You have great vocals and gave a very confident audition. Your performance was very unique which is always very positive. It was nice to see you playing the harmonica.
