Nottingham musicians wanted to impress: At Open Mic UK we provide music industry feedback to all acts that perform in our shows. Below is feedback for acts from the Nottingham Music contest that took place at The Britannia Hotel.

The Nottingham auditions were judged by music industry specialists who have provided music industry feedback for a selection of acts. The people the Nottingham musicians wanted to impress were Ruth Discua from Nottingham Vocal Academy, Beckie Oldham from Singing Lessons Nottingham, Sarah Macleod-Cahn from Rollo Academy of Performing Arts, Dave Buckley from Curly Lead Studio and Darren Barker from DB Management.

Charlotte Edginton – Little nervous. Few pitching issues throughout. A vocal coach would be able to help you improve; click here for benefits of singing lessons.
Chloe Barrett – Lovely tone. Try to avoid looking at the floor, connect with your audience. Click here for building your confidence on stage.
Kian Alvey – Got better as you went on, not sure you’re ready yet but keep practising and we’d love to see you next year.
Emily Drewry – Lovely tone but you could see the nerves. Don’t look at the floor; make eye contact with your audience, click here for building your confidence on stage.
Sarah Lane – Not sure you’re strong enough yet. Seemed very nervous throughout. A vocal coach will be able to help you build confidence in your voice, click here for benefits of singing lessons.
Will Silver –Good eye contact. Strong performance. Well done.
Florence Brown – Don’t not to overuse your hands throughout your performance. Work on your breath control, a vocal coach will be able to help you with this. Click here for benefits of singing lessons.
Chelsea Jade – Good voice but your pitch wasn’t great. Your breathing needs a little more attention.
Joleen Treanor – Don’t hold your stomach whilst you’re performing, it makes you look nervous. Make sure you warm up fully before performing, click here for tips on warming up.
Hannah Beresford – Don’t rush your performance. You have a nice voice, but keep practising.
Chelsea White – Start wasn’t strong but it became stronger as you went on. You look great.
Maddison Naylor – Big voice for a small performer. Nice projection. You need developing but there’s heaps of potential, click here for importance of singing lessons.
Demi Sumler – Need to work on your breath control, don’t rush yourself, take your time and the performance will naturally improve. Click here for importance of singing lessons.
Ava Gooding - Strong voice. Take bigger breaths between lines to get the full power of your voice.
Louisa Constaninou – Nice pop voice. You need to make eye contact with your audience.

Stephanie Duffy – Could have made a better song choice, click here for the importance of song choice. Slight pitching issues.
Maria Csoka – Very big voice. Confident start, nice ‘rasp’ to your vocal.
Rosie Jones – Lovely tone. Sweet voice.
Louise Richards – Great tone. Try not to scrunch up your face, click here for tips on singing with facial expression.
Jenny Willett – Great songwriting. Lots of potential here. Don’t let your guitar overpower your performance.
Annie Quinn – Wasn’t sure this was the right song choice for you, click here for the importance of song choice. Be more confident with your performance, hair fiddling is distracting; click here for building your confidence on stage.
Amazon Marseille – Didn’t seem to care too much about it the performance, but that could’ve been nerves.
Matilda Pratt – Caught our attention immediately. Good connection with the song.
Lia White – Good song choice, really enjoyable performance.
Toni-Rose Bryan – The low notes needs work, your nerves got the better of you slightly.
Shanais Marks – Sweet voice. Be careful to keep calm and try not to let your nerves affect your voice.
Holly Fallon – Great take on the song, you really made it your own. Lovely low notes.
Kyle Brady – Rhythmically nice. Don’t forget to make eye contact with your audience.
Charlie Elizaga – Hands in your pockets throughout, remember to perform visually whilst you’re singing, click here for tips on performing visually.
Mollie Lynch – Nervous. Strong voice and power once you got started.
Nathalie Anyaewa – Don’t look at the floor, your voice improves when your posture is better. Good tone.
