OPEN MIC NIGHTS LIVERPOOL
Open mic nights took place in Liverpool for the Open Mic UK Liverpool 21 and Overs Regional Finals!
Open mic nights Liverpool: National singing competition Open Mic UK held its Regional Finals at The Liner Hotel, Liverpool this weekend and saw Liverpool’s best singers, songwriters and solo artists take to the stage in their bids to impress a music industry judging panel and capacity crowd.
The regional finals were judged by music industry specialists who have provided stage performance tips for each of the acts that performed. The people the Liverpool musicians wanted to impress were Radio City presenter Claire Simonsen, Andy Kettle from CMP Entertainment, singing teacher Su Grainger, singer/songwriter Paul Fitzpatrick, JK Management’s Jason Kelly and international music examiner Stuart Slater.
Liverpool’s Regional Finals were rounded off by our guest act Daughters of Davis.

Yvonnelally – Nice tone, good projection, and some attention to stage presence. Try to develop this further…aim for more eye contact with the audience also; click here for tips on stage presence. Try not to choose songs with long instrumentals as you only have a few minutes to impress.
Lizzie Stokell – Liked the image, tone. Nice shaping in phrasing. Again, try to communicate much more with the audience. Scope for much more engagement! Not sure this was the right song choice for you; click here for the importance of song choice.
James Wray – Interesting interpretation and interesting image which could work for you with the right material. Tone consistency settled as the piece developed today. Try to develop a greater technical foundation which will help overall confidence. So refreshing to see someone take such a classic and make it their own, click here for tips on performing a creative cover.
Sara – Nailed it! Mic technique assisted with shaping of held notes. Remember there is an audience and a bigger stage, but a great delivery. Remind me of Kelly Clarkson. Well done.
Rachel Cane – A clear sense of originality and individuality there. Still needs to be polished up into something more marketable, but something there. Try to avoid longer open instrument parts in a short performance. Good to see that you’ve created your own image.
Open mic nights Liverpool – feedback
Chris Nevo – Pleasant voice, full of character. Room for greater vocal training but you enjoyed this and it came through. A little attention to your image would help you; click here for tips on image.
Alarna – Liked the image, connected well with the audience, used the stage in a quite a subtle but confident way. Good vocal performance. It’s clear that once you’ve got the right song, you’ll go far.
Chris Everard– Really liked the individuality. What a personality and commitment! What you do Chris you do really well! Good luck. Really creative cover! Click here for more tips on performing a creative cover.
Shaun Gibson – Confident audience participation, good attention to image, but not sure what stylistic identity you are seeking. If I’m being picky you might benefit from a band to give greater balance and intensity. Confident and secure though!
Joe Roscoe – Best in show. Great image. Can’t really fault any of that performance. Favourite act of the day.
Matthew Parkinson – Great attempt to portray a mood and story…some technical imperfections – more polish needed, especially in this genre. It was an enjoyable performance.
Jason Butler – Loved the country image and style! Really worked for you. What a voice! Sang with such passion and conviction, click here for tips on singing with emotion. Crowd pleaser.
