Reading Music Auditions – Open Mic UK

Ellie Bottirell - You have a lovely tone but you could look to develop your projection which a good vocal coach will be able to assist you with to be even better, click here for the importance of singing lessons. Other areas you could develop include dynamics but if you increase you projection and range that will also assist that too, click here for more on singing dynamics. Good control, lovely clear vocals. Make sure you keep your throat open on the high notes! Mesmerising performance because I felt you really meant what you were singing. You looked confident and sang very well.

Sophie Elise – Good to see you using your hands to express the emotion in the song, click here for the importance of singing with emotion within the song. You committed well to the song and gave good eye contact throughout. Good image with a happy, engaged personality. Very focussed performance with strong melodic range and tone. Don’t be afraid to sing age appropriate songs- no rush to grow up! Good tone and warmth. You hit the high notes with confidence.

Francesca Luker – You put yourself under quite a bit of pressure with the backing track not working. You have a good vocal and again picked an extremely difficult song but definitely some real potential there to develop. Take care to sustain and stay on the notes as you are often skipping a little early off them perhaps this is due to your breathing. Click here for the importance of song choice. Look to work on your performance as you have a really good voice, click here for stage performance tips. You’ve got strong projection. Quite a unique tone to your voice, with warmth and body. Bring more confident to the plate, you’ve got a lovely voice.

Feedback from the Reading Music Auditions

Mackenzie Burke – You had a nice easy flow and easy on the ear tone. Guitar work was comfortable and you gave lots of eye contact. Look to perform more and perhaps get a strap and stand this will give you more ability to move and commit your body to express emotion. Click here for more on singing with facial expressions. Looks like you’ve practised hard – would enjoy hearing more. Good musicality. You came into your own on the chorus. Good dynamics and control.

Isabella Taylor – Lovely vocal and projection. Good facial expression, try and also express with your body and movement, click here for stage performance tips. When you perform a theatrical song you are performing/acting a character and therefore you aren’t being original. Be good to see your originality come through going forward, click here for performing a creative cover. Sensitive performance. Careful there’s not too much vibrato on the long notes. A well-rehearsed feel to your audition. Your body was a little static, but you vocals were spot on.

Elena Crosby – Good song choice singing a male vocal will change it automatically. Nice tone and projection; look to commit more to the emotion and performance. With a song like this need to really create the intensity, click here for singing with emotion. Really felt the richness of your vocal tone, which suited your projection and song choice. Lift your eyebrows more as a little trick to give your voice more sparkle. Your top notes filled the whole room- well done.

Ella Dorset – You’ve got good tone and your projection was great. Going forward look to try and be more original, click here for more on performing a creative cover. Performance wise, try and convey the emotion of the song, click here for tips on singing with emotion. Your voice drew me in- I felt that you believed in what you were singing.

Georgia Scott – Doing an iconic song by an iconic singer is always going to be a hard one to impress with as we’ve heard it performed so many times. That said, you did a really good job just look to perform something a bit more leftfield going forward, click here for the importance of song choice. Controlled, well-rounded performance. Outstanding vocals. I’d like to hear you sing country vocals. Full-bodied vocal tone with a strong understanding of how to control it.

Judge’s Feedback – Reading Music Auditions

Christina Cameron – Good commitment to the song. Click here for more on performing a creative cover. Good facial expression, click here for more on singing dynamics. Letting the performance breathe, gives you more for projection and impact for the hook and chorus. You could feel the emotion of the performance through your expressions. Great range- but don’t strain.

John Nicholas – Good dynamics, you built the song up well, click here for more on guitar playing tips. Song is decent, click here for more on writing lyrics and writing that all-important song chorus. Need to write all the time so aim to write a couple of times a week and develop as many songs as you can. Enjoyed your original track. Try to connect with the audience more. Soulful and heartfelt. Dynamic range was pleasant. You’ve got a catchy tune here!

Duarte Silva – Look to commit more to the song and with more performance your confidence will improve. Click here for the importance of Open Mic nights for singers. Suggest doing 1 or 2 Open Mic nights a week.  Click here for more on stage performance tips. You have a strong voice! No need to apologise in auditions, just sing confidently. Be confident- there is a good voice within you.

Ben Bozzoni – Lovely tone to your vocal, look to work on developing your projection to give us more impact. Good eye contact and stage presence. Click here for more on singing with facial expressions. Would be good to hear you stretch your vocal range. Great body language.
