Under 16's Feedback – Reading Music Opportunities

Haydn Bardoe –  A nervy start, try not to show it, the more performance you can do the better - click here for tips on how to calm nerves. We liked that you put your own spin on the cover, click here for more on performing a creative cover as a singer. Great to see you settle down as the performance went on and give us a smile. Remember to use the stage more, as this will be engaging for your audience. Click here for stage performance tips for singers. Love your voice and a great song choice! Loved that you performed with passion. Good use of key contact, just build a little more on your stage presence.

Caitlyn Eliza – Lots of potential! The ukulee can be great but also quite thin as a backing instrument so consider to when and when not to use it. Look to give more facial expression in the performance, click here for tips on singing with facial expressions. Your original song has potential with good dynamics and lyrics. You have a great tone to your voice! A nice fun performance.

Isabella – Early days but you have bags of talent, look to perform as much as you can. Take that microphone off and work the stage, this will be more engaging for your audience. Click here for stage performance tips for singers. Vocally keep working on your core to strengthen your range and projection to be even better. Very heart felt performance. Good strong vocal.

Jodi – Lots of vocal ability, you need to practice and perform as much as you can to allow you to flow more playing the keyboard. The more comfortable you are with that, the more you can look up and perform to the audience. Click here for more on the importance of eye contact as a singer to connect your performance with the audience. Liked that you stood to perform as that gives the opportunity for more movement in the performance. It was great to see you end with a smile despite ending playing a few wrong notes. You have a pretty voice!

Tasha – Look to get even closer to the microphone, this will help boost the projection. Good stage presence and richness to your vocal to give good dynamic change throughout the song. Click here for more on adding vocal dynamics to the performance as a singer. Loved this song, we liked how you made it your own with a big strong vocal.  Confident delivery of the song.

Joelle – Song choice is very important, and you picked a very popular and dated song choice to try and impress with; click here for more on the importance of song choices. Performance wise you cost yourself a lot of volume with your projection, so look to get closer to the microphone. Click here for more on tips on microphone technique. You sang the song with a lot of grace and performed well for the audience. Your performance got better towards the end.

Theresa Delaney – You always have a lot of character and passion vocally. Performance was much better today, don’t to forget to use that stage more - click here for stage performance tips for singers. Think about using more eye contact to express the song to your audience. Click here for tips on eye contact. Wasn’t mad on the song choice and so consider selecting something more modern and current. Click here for more on the importance of song choices. You are an excellent performer with a strong voice.

Megan and Carla – Lovely vocals! Make sure you consciously sing it your own way rather than being too close to the original artist. As performers you need to synchronise more both with what you are wearing and as a performance. Click here for tips for music duos and groups. You did look across and smile later into the performance but look to do it early on to show - you are performing as an act rather than individuals. Love the duo theme. Try to engage more with the audience. Click here for tips on audience engagement

Eleanor Stonehouse – Super vocal! Try to put your own spin on the song, to show us your originality - click here for more on performing a creative cover as a singer. Olivia and Freya – You sounded lovely, with some super harmonies! Look to get closer to those microphones to maximise projection. Click here for more on microphone technique. Beautiful harmonies and your vocals complement each other very nicely.

Mariam Kiwelo – Nice vocal control and power! However, you picked a massive song to sing, think about choosing a song that you can bring your own spin to as an artist. Click here for more on the importance of song choices. Look to work on adding more facial expression to convey the emotion within the song - click here for tips on singing with facial expressions. Louie and Billy Hughes – Loved the scarfs! You looked across at each other to show you were performing as one act rather than separate individuals. Song has potential, but we’re not convinced it showed off the best of your vocal range. Write songs best suited for showing off the sweeter tone in your vocals is something to strive for. It also would have benefitted from more dynamics in the song. Click here for tips on vocal dynamics. Loved your voices and a very watchable performance. Nice confident delivery.

Aiyana – This performance was great; you are super original with some great vocals. Reach out to each other as performers; a glance, a look, or a smile across to each other shows us you’re in it together. The guitarist looked down at her playing throughout the performance which is a missed opportunity to connect to your audience and each other.  The song has some super elements but perhaps needs a little more structure to focus in on the hook of the song - click here for more on writing that killer song chorus.

Hattie Gates – You have nice tone to your vocal but look to develop your projection and range to be even better.
