SHEFFIELD SINGERS WANTED TO IMPRESS

Singers wanted to impress music industry judges at the Sheffield Open Mic UK auditions, who have provided feedback for the acts!

 SHEFFIELD MUSICIANS WANTED

Sheffield singers wanted to impress: National singing competition Open Mic UK held auditions at Studio 25 in Sheffield this weekend in a search for the region’s best singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and vocalists. The Sheffield singers wanted to impress, as with a place in the Open Mic UK 2014 Regional Finals up for grabs, the acts that auditioned had a lot to play for!

The Sheffield auditions were judged by music industry specialists who have provided music industry feedback for a selection of acts. The people the Sheffield singers wanted to impress were Kate Holland from Pro Voice Studios, Paul Beetham of Rhythm Of Your Choice Ents, entertainment agent Karen Beetham and Darran Barker from DB Management.

Please take the feedback on board with a view to helping in the future.

Jenna – Really strong voice. Confident performance.

Kensy – You don’t seem ready for this competition yet. But keep practising and come back next year!

Kasey – Pretty voice. Not sure Rihanna is the right song choice for you, it’s a bit too old for you. Click here for advice on song choice.

Alexa – Nice to hear an original song. Confident guitar work. Really good audition.

Emily – Make sure there’s a connection between you and the song otherwise it’s difficult to believe your performance. Click here for advice on singing with emotion

Laura – Great guitar playing. Confident and smiley! A really great audition.

Holly – Sweet voice. Wasn’t the right song for you. Click here for advice on song choice. Try again next year!

Sidney – Very confident. Have you been to stage school?

Fabian – Your voice has got much stronger! Lovely tone.

Isabella – You started off well, but changing key unintentionally during a performance never sounds good. Click here for advice on the benefits of singing lessons.

George – Fabulous voice. Love your songwriting. Keep up the good work!

Daisy – You have real potential. Wasn’t too keen on the song choice. Click here for advice on song choice.

Sophia – Pretty voice. Develop your style and voice so you aren’t so reliant on your guitar.

Rhianne – Really good voice. Need to be and look more confident, click here for tips on stage performance. Your hands were behind your back the whole time. Posture’s so important for your singing!

Kal – Superb original song. Great lyrics!

Katie Bosworth – Your voice has really grown! Blew us away.

Laura – Poor song choice was the problem here, the verses were very long and the chorus didn’t suit your vocal. Click here for advice on song choice.

Aeisha – Seemed very nervous. Improved as you got through the song. Possibly wasn’t the right song for you. Click here for advice on song choice and click here for tips on building stage confidence

Leah – There’s something very different about you. Keep working on your vocal. Be yourself!

Tilly – Try not to hide behind your guitar! Sweet voice but try to connect to the song as it can become uninteresting for your audience.

Carys – Don’t think you’re ready for this yet. You looked very scared whilst singing. Probably best to develop and gain confidence over the next year and ty again next year. Click here for tips on building stage confidence

Rachel and Olivia – Your voice are good individually. But as a duo there’s little chemistry between the both of you. Needs working on. Click here for tips on stage performance.

Alice – You’ve got a nice voice. But unfortunately you let the nerves get to you a little bit and they stayed throughout your performance. Click here for building stage confidence.

Caitlin – Good range of vocal. Really well controlled voice.

Sheffield singers wanted – feedback continued

Maya – Great strong voice. You were the first audition that had energy all day!

Eden – Fantastic, love your style! No brainer.

Myla – Nice voice. You didn’t connect with the song, which made it seem a little boring. Click here for advice on song choice.

Ella – The song choice made your voice sound a bit dull, but it’s easy to tell you’re better than that. Click here for advice on song choice

Daniel Smart – Great audition! Confident and a really good song.

Jordan – Confident performance.  Nice voice and a good image.

Vanessa – Great song. You could go really far. Your image isn’t all there yet, that’s something to work on before you become the full package. Click here for tips on image.

Emily – It was good to hear an original song! Work on your confidence though for next time. Click here for tips on stage performance.

Lilly – Sweet voice. Might need to rethink the song choice, there was something not quite right about it, click here for advice on song choice. Try not to be so static when performing, make the most of the space you have, click here for tips on stage performance.

Rochell – You’re very talented. Your voice is unique but the performance felt like it’d been done before. To develop further, look into writing your own songs, click here for some advice on songwriting

Hannah – Has a nice image. Guitar work was good. It was a good audition, but you need to develop your style to be more unique.

Joe – Had the attention of the room from the off. Just need to build more confidence within yourself to take it to the next level, click here for tips on stage performance.

Antonia – You’ve got a really interesting voice. Try to avoid your voice sounding a little whiney, reduce this and you’ll be much better balanced.

Gemma – There is a lack of confidence here. You gave a very quiet performance, making you sound years younger than you are. A good vocal coach will be able to help you develop your chest voice, click here for advice on the benefits of singing lessons

Lucy – You have a good voice. The problem is that the song took too long to start that we only got the best parts of your voice towards the end of the audition.

Christina – Lovely voice. You have a really brilliant range.

Lilly Ann – You’ve got something really special there, it just needs controlling in some way. Try to be a little more original to avoid blending into the crowd. Click here for advice on performing a creative cover and click here for advice on finding an image as an act.

Azelia Lily – Really powerful voice. Good image. Wasn’t necessarily the right song choice for you, click here for advice on song choice

Shane – You were out of tune for most of the audition. You need to develop your voice through a vocal coach, click here for advice on the benefits of singing lessons.

Avishek – Very good. Great vocals. Need to have more confidence in your guitar playing.

Chloe – Your voice was all over the place, didn’t know what to make of it. To improve it would be best to see a vocal coach who can help you to control your vocal. Click here for advice on the benefits of singing lessons.

Katy – Excellent vocal.

PJ Francis – Great vocals and a really entertaining performance.

Ginger Tom – Great audition! You guys work well together.
