Sheffield Singing Competition - Feedback

Isabel Foster – Perfect tone and delivery! Your high notes were impressive. Try to open your mouth more to maximise the projection. This will greatly improve your vocal range. Lily Hilton-Brooke – Very impressive performance! We could see your confidence grow as the song continued; it was great to watch. Try to bring that confidence at the start of your performance. Click here for tips on dealing with nerves. Make sure to sing all the lyric in a line, try not to end the lines with heavy breathing. Breath control exercises will help minimise this. CapoNFret – Talented duo! We love your creativity as a pair. It’s great to see young artists working on original material. Click here for tips on song writing. Your guitar loop was extremely catchy! At times your vocals were too harsh – try to ease of ‘shouting’ some of the lyrics. Minimising your projection slightly will improve your performance greatly. A singing teacher will be able to help you work on your vocals. Click here for choosing the right singing teacher for you.

Molly-Jo – Well performed. Your confidence grew as the song continued. Try to bring that confidence at the start of your performance. Click here for tips on dealing with nerves. We didn’t see much movement from you on stage. Using the space will be more engaging for your audience. Click here for some tips on improving your stage performance. Be careful with your song choice. Georgina – You have a good voice! You have a Shakira tone to your voice. We would like to see some originality from you as an artist. Lara Lily – Loved your image! Click here for the importance of finding an image as a musician. You gave us a performance to remember, you performed like you were a real artist! Your confidence is admiring. You have a lovely tone and control to add. Keep doing what your doing!

Frankie Smith – You have a very mature voice for your age. You have a lovely tone, and you gave us a gentle performance. Try not to shout the chorus, focus on your vocal control to do this. Manchester Singing Competition – Singer’s Feedback

Lara Firth – Awesome performance! You know how to work the stage! We could see you in the west end. You’re a natural performer. Click here for stage performance tips for singers. 

Molly Gash – Nice performance. Try to relax and enjoy yourself on stage. Try to use more of the stage. Moving around and using your body to show your emotions will be very engaging for your audience. Iman – Love your soulful and powerful voice! Try to me more original next time you perform. Adele songs we see very often – it’s hard not to be compared to her. Choosing a song that you can bring your own twist too will be more beneficial for your voice. Mia –  We really enjoyed your performance. You have great vocals and image – you looked like a true artist! Try not to shout some of the lines, support your voice instead. Charlotte Beatrice – Cool groove! You have a lovely tone. We loved your spin on the song, we could see your originality as an artist. Sophie Cox – Loved your style, image and sound. You were really good on stage! We love your originality. Good structure, melody and lyrics to your song. Very catchy! Rio-Leanna – Rifftastic! You have a great tone and vocal range. You have a big voice, you supported it well. On stage try to open your eyes. The Burke Brothers – You have good voices! Not sure on the matching outfits. Choosing two outfits that are slightly different, but are along the same theme will improve your image. Let yourself go and enjoy the performance, showing your enthusiasm will be more engaging for your audience. 

Fabienne – Was great to hear your originality as an artist! Your backing track was very catchy. Your lyrics and overall performance seemed force. Try to relax more on stage. Lewis Robinson – Loved your first audition and loved this performance! You’re a consistently talented guy. Pay attention to your mic technique - be careful where it is. Sydnie 6 – You look at home on stage! You performed the song really well. You have a nice tone and your very unique. You need stamina in your vocals for this song. Megan Day – Really enjoyable performance. Your harmonies were great. We love your originality as an artist. The rhythms and lyrics are clever. Ellen – You have a good voice, and we loved the song choice! You have a beautiful tone to your voice, it seemed effortless. Try to work on your lower register so your voice is more versatile. Manchester Singing Competition – Singer’s Feedback

Louise – The song has a good feel and groove! Although it was very samey – try to build it up for your chorus. This will make your song catchier. Click here for tips on song writing. Loved the musicians with you, you worked hard to get this performance polished. Well done!

Ella Hudson – Well performed! You have lovely vocals. Believe in yourself and try to enjoy your performance. Sing to the end of your phrases – don’t forget the end of the lines. Jackey – You have nice deep vocals. You need to control your riffs and not shout the big notes. There is a good tone there that needs to come out more. A singing teacher can help you do this. Try and avoid over thinking your riffs, stick to working on your tone. That’s where your talent is.

Keaton Fussey – You have a nice tone. You gave a passionate performance and assured delivery. The arrangement defaced slightly too much. Try not to overthink the arrangement. Simone Hobson Bennett – You have a big voice. We love your tone in your lower register- you have excellent control. We could feel your connection to the song, it was very engaging for your audience. Manchester Singing Competition – Feedback

Bethany Daisy – You have lovely vocals and a very unique style and image! This really helps with your originality. It was nice to see the use of a live backing. It was a great performance! Be careful not to let your vocals drop at the end of tones. You were a little pitchy at times. This is something a singing teacher can help you with. Jack Chapman – You performed a very enjoyable cover. You have a lovely and warm tone to your vocals and your tone really suited the style of the song. Harry Middleton – A very good stage debut. You have a great voice and very good rapping skills. Your song choice was very strong and worked well with your vocals. Sam Maloney – You performed very well! You have a lovely tone to your voice. Don’t let yourself get too nervous – try to enjoy the experience as much as you can! Chloey Rose – Very well performed! You gave a very dynamic performance and used the full stage very well. You have a great voice and performed a very good original song. Acoustic Scrapbook – You performed a great cover! You have obviously rehearsed and performed a lot as your performance was tight and to a good standard. Look to work on and support the higher notes a little more. A vocal coach will help you to improve this further. Chloe D – A good performance. There is a very nice tone to your voice however you need to make sure you sing to the end of phrases as you tend to cut them a bit short. Work to support your bigger notes to help get better resonance throughout your performance. Don’t be afraid to really perform the song. Make sure to move around more and use the full stage. Sun Jay – An amazing performance! You have great vocals and your song allowed you to show of your vocal range and falsetto. You have a lot of talent! Amanda Simon – You have a lovely and powerful voice. You used good microphone technique and your vocals were nice and controlled. Brett – You gave a very good performance. You have a great voice and played very well. Think about working a little more on your backing track to make sure it is the best possible quality it can be. Abi Williams – You make performing look very natural! You have great vocals and performed very well.
