South London Singing Auditions - Singing Feedback
Nicola Denny – Confident performance and you expressed the song well. Look to commit more to the hooks and sometimes less is more so hold back just before the chorus in projection and tempo to give the chorus even more impact. Vocally, watch your breathing and over pushing your projection too hard at times thus you were losing your control as a result, click here for more on vocal projection.
Ollie Gray – Lovely rasp and tone to your vocal, really nice! Going forward consider making the songs more unique and thus individual to you click here for more on performing a creative cover. Nice tone, it seems effortless, so you can push your vocals more. Good projection and dynamic range.
Caroline Eva – Loved that you performed your own song, had a nice sound. Take care to get the balance of volumes between guitar and your vocal as at times you drowned yourself out. Look to develop your projection to be even better! Click here for tips on vocal projection. Look to reach out more with your eyes and engage with your audience, click here for more on eye contact. Just need to deliver more a of ‘punch’! This impact will help your stage presence.
Mica Chaplin - You have a nice tone, however take care not to force the vocal and lose control. Performance wise- look to use all the tools at your disposal more expression, movement with the arms and body in general to convey the emotion in the song, click here for more on stage presence. Good range and a strong look. Make sure you try a song which is more comfortable for your voice.
Rebecca Harris – Liked your tone but look to vary the tone, tempo and projection even more click here for more on adding vocal dynamics to the performance. Song choice is very important and it felt this song under pressure put you under too much stain click here for more on the importance of song choices. Good dynamic range. Like your voice, you have potential to push more.
Anisha Walmsley – Song is cool and it conveys a nice message, however look to work on emphasising the hook more as it was difficult to latch on to a vocal hook, click here for tips on writing a song chorus. Consider working on the line you only wear perfume to disintegrate and increase the projection, tempo and repeat the line using different phrasing as it has potential but will need a little work. You have an individual identity which is great and shows you know what kind of artist you are.
Kate Devlin – Great that you performed your own song but it was a little over shadowed by your guitar tuning, so take care to make sure your guitar is tuned up before performing. Also consider some points in the following article guitar dynamics for your performance. Very confident and good stage presence. Remember even if the subject matter is serious, try to be expressive with your face. You’ve got a nice tone!
Wayne Jacobs – Always love your attitude, you are a real trier and always perform with a smile on your face. Like to find you finding your own style rather than an American impression, click here for more on performing a creative cover. You’ve got catchy lyrics and a nice hook. Just remember to breathe to avoid sounding nasal. There’s needed to be more distinction between your verse and chorus.
Xiomara Crystal – You have a lovely soulful vocal with good projection. Look to engage more with your audience mainly with eye contact to connect us even more to your performance, click here for more on the importance of eye contact. Good stage presence. Like that you’re your own artist and there’s no replication. Really good projection and dynamic range.
Jadice Gordon – Effortless. Your vocal feels well suited to gospel and soul songs so look to pick songs that suit your vocal range and sound. Click here for the importance of song choices. It might be an idea to try a more contemporary song.
Sophie Simonds – Great first impression with a well driven tempo and powerful projection. Look to vary the dynamics even more click here for more on guitar dynamics. Take care not to drown out the guitar when playing sax, get the volume levels more balanced. As performers, you connect well and certainly look to reach out even more to show connection as performers. Performed like a pro, good projection and great delivery. Powerful emotive tone and good dynamic range.
Henry – Important that you make the songs your own rather than too much of an impression as you have a super vocal, click here for more on performing a creative cover. Nice tone and natural ability. Very soulful. Relax and let yourself go, feels like you’re holding back – left us waiting for more.
Lauren Goldberg – You performed well and committed to the song well. Click here for more on the importance of stage presence. Look to reach out more with your eyes and connect with your audience click here for the importance of eye contact as a singer. Nice commercial sound. Song needs a bit more dynamic range. Great look and liked your delivery.
Atlanta – Song is good but you need to commit to conveying the emotion in the song even more, use your body movement, eyes and anything you can to convey the emotion in the song even more, click here for more on singing with emotion. Good look, liked that you have an identity as an artist. Need to project more and really make us connect with the lyrics. Nailed the big notes!
Almat – The song is a nice one but you aren’t giving us enough in your performance click here for more on the importance of stage presence. Also consider adding more dynamics click here for more on guitar dynamics. Nice folk tone and annunciation. I like the song, it has a good story, I could connect with the lyrics. However a distinctive chorus would make the audience remember the song more.
Michel – You seem to be placing too much emphasis on your vocal rather than connecting to the emotion in the song, click here for the importance of singing with emotion. One area to consider is to express more and give more eye contact with feeling, click here for more on eye contact. Strong look and a great delivery. Choose a song that sits well with your voice and the artist you want to be. Good projection and nice vibrato.
