Tanya K – Good facial expression and connection emotionally to the song. Use that stage Tanya, click here for more advice on a better stage performance. Nice original song and you delivered it well. Confident vocals and lovely interaction with the audience, click here for tips on audience engagement.

Sam Warren –  Lovely performance. Unique voice with strong vocals, delivery and diction. Song has potential but struggling to get the chorus and melody as a hook that will instantly stick in your head, click here for more on getting that killer chorus. Lower range could have been stronger.

Jocasta – Lovely sentiment to the song and you are very easy on the ear. You’re pulling away quite a bit from the mic which is making you lose your projection and causing a battle with the engineer getting your vocal volume correct, click here for more advice on mic control. Song meandered a little and it could have done with more of a vocal hook for an instant factor. Try to engage with the audience more, click here for tips on audience engagement.

South West and Midlands Song Contest

Bren Haze – Too much going on, keep it simple, a good song well delivered will connect you to the audience., click here for tips on audience engagement. Vocals were a little drowned as just too much going on, two guitars did not work, just stick to one.

Sophie Dangerfield – Lovely tone to your vocal but remember to use that stage, click here for more on stage performance. Also look to use your facial expression to convey the emotion of the song, click here for more tips on facial expression. You could also benefit from working the dynamics don’t keep forcing the top end let the song breathe and it will allow you to expand the chorus with more impact.

SAZZEY – Click here for advice on audience participation. Song is contemporary and one that peers will relate too. You need to commit more to the performance and use that stage even more, click here for more information on stage performance. Good timing and delivery. You have a great image and persona. Try and put more expression in the voice.

Ellie Smith – Watch your facial expressions as sometimes they are coming across quite harsh, click here for more tips on facial expression. Although restricted in your space try and look to bring motion to the rest of the body and shoulders, slightly raising yourself from the stool are all options, click here for performing with keys for a few ideas. Piano playing needs more practice. Great tone of voice.

Daniel Knight – Good commitment to the performance but it was a little over acted. You have a big voice but it’s a little out of control. Click here for tips on what to do in instrumental sections, which you did by addressing the audience.  Also click here for more advice on audience participation which can be a risky business! You have a great voice but your vocal technique needs some work, click here for importance of voice training.

Keshia – Lovely little rasp and tone to your vocal.  Song has potential but struggling to get the chorus and melody as a hook that will instantly stick in your head, click here for more on getting that killer chorus. Good use of your hands and expression. Very emotive but try to connect more as performers on stage.

Scarlett Maclean – You have a nice unique voice and a good image. Song took a long while to go up a gear by which time you lost a chance to really connect your music to the audience, click here for tips on connecting with the audience. The hook needed a bit of gun powder it just didn’t have any impact, click here for more on getting that killer chorus. Click here for advice on bringing greater dynamics which would also help to drive the chorus to have more impact.

Katrin McCall – Great image and good vocal, but felt like you struggled to connect with the audience. This isn’t a good song choice, it’s dated and would need a modern twist, click here for the importance of song choice. Also click here for more information on performing a creative cover.

Brett Huckfield and Marie Timmins – Think these guys are one of the best songwriters in the competition. Performance wise you bring an enthusiasm that is infectious! Good combo of instruments. Very fun and confident, with great harmonies. You know how to work the crowd like true professionals, click here for tips on audience engagement.

South West and Midlands Song Contest

Rytesize – Good to see the co-ordination of what you are wearing. Good chemistry between each other. Well performed and well delivered. Chorus is a bit weak and repetitive, it needs a female vocalist to give it more dynamic and more visually. Click here for advice on bringing greater dynamics.

Emily Wyatt – Nice song, beautiful voice and a great look. It felt like you needed to give it more projection, which a good vocal coach could assist you with to give this song even more impact, click here for importance of voice training. Could do with more of a connection with performers on stage, you didn’t even acknowledge each other, which made it feel a little distant, with a little attention to detail you can resolve these and be even better.

Lorna Dea – You have a great image. A very nervy performance, but the more you perform the more your confidence will build, click here for advice on how to sing with confidence. You need to work on strengthening your vocal which a good vocal coach will be able to assist you with, click here for importance of voice training.  Also you need to use the stage you are rooted to the spot, click here for more advice on stage performance.

Ali Gilbert – You have a nice honest voice and connected with the words well. It’s never a great shout to play guitar along with a backing track, if you are not on point with your playing it clashes with the note on the backing track. It also felt like you lost the live feel that playing with just a guitar gives, click here for guitar tips. You need to also give more expression and performance, click here for more advice on stage performance.

The Shures – A good connection between performers and a great image. Strong vocally, but feels like you could lay the vocal harmonies up better to give more vocal depth. Like to have seen a bit more originality rather than a cover so similar, click here for more information on performing a creative cover.

Jordan Adams – Another committed and focused performance. You convey the emotion of the song wonderfully, click here for more tips on how to sing with emotion. Nice falsetto at beginning, but need to work on getting fuller, more classical sound on loud parts. Bit nasally at times.

Faye Bagley – Such a fun performer with great energy and the song has such potential, click here for tips on how to write a song. Fantastic voice. Awesome!

Ranaye Kaye – A very confident performance and you commanded the stage well. Great image and a really nice voice. The song choice really suited your vocals. Click here for the importance of song choice. Adlibs were a bit weak at the end. Try performing with more emotion, click here for more tips on how to sing with emotion.

Big Dreamz – Very confident performer. Good voice quality but needs a bit of coaching. Audience participation is always a risk. Click here for more information on audience participation. Good idea to do a mash up but the two songs didn’t mix so good click here for advice on doing mash ups.

Operali – Susan Boyle step aside! Beautiful vocals, lovely tone and vocal control, top notes were on point, but were a little shaky to start with. Great image. Song choice was a little obvious. Click here for the importance of song choice.

Nicole – Well sung although felt the tempo was a little lacklustre. Try and work on connecting as performers on stage. Would have liked to see more emotion, click here for more tips on how to sing with emotion. Using the stage would have enhanced the performance, click here for Improving stage performance as a singer.

Dan Edmunds – A solid performance, very natural but edgy. Unique voice but need to work more on control. The song has potential but struggling to get the chorus and melody, need a hook that will instantly stick in your head, click here for more on getting that killer chorus.

Doug Heath – Love your tone and strength of delivery. Guitar playing made it engaging and cool. You have a great look, star quality! Nice song but needs more contrast between verse and chorus, click here for tips on how to write a song. Try and bring more emotion, click here for more tips on how to sing with emotion.

Lara Loux – Nice vocals. You looked incredible.  Dancers were a great idea but at times a little too distracting, click here for when to use backing dancers. The performance lacked connection, click here for tips on audience engagement.
