Best Music Hashtags | Independent & Unsigned Artists on Instagram 2019

There are plenty of independent and unsigned artists who use music hashtags on Instagram. But what are the best music hashtags and how do you know which one to choose?

The best music hashtags are relevant to your post. Whether it’s for promotion, festivals or music videos, you should use appropriate hashtags. There are many popular trending hashtags for artists and producers in the music industry, as well as niche hashtags.

It can be hard to know exactly how many hashtags you should use. You don’t need to use loads of hashtags, but if you are then you might want to learn how to hide them in your comment.

How many hashtags should a brand use?

You can post up to 30 hashtags per post on Instagram. However, this is going to be quite excessive for many people. It is much better to think about quality over quantity when using music hashtags. If you put too many irrelevant hashtags then they can seem meaningless.

There is no magic number so do some research on Instagram promotion and use your judgement depending on your post. Whilst some may only use two or three, you could go up to ten to try and cover a lot more hashtags. If you did want to use more, you could always post a couple in your caption and post the rest in your first comment.

How do you hide a hashtag on Instagram?

Posting loads of hashtags in the first comment is quite common. It allows you to put your main hashtags in your comment and also add plenty more to your post. This also doesn’t cram your caption with hashtags, which can put people off the post. However, putting loads of hashtags in your comment can also look quite unprofessional. Fortunately, there is a way to hide your hashtags in your Instagram comment.

#1 Choose your hashtags

First of all, decide what music hashtags you are going to use. Remember that there is a 30 hashtag limit so don’t go over the top with this.

#2 Put your hashtags together

Get all of your hashtags together in a paragraph. You can use Notes or any other text editor on your phone as it is better to paste it all on Instagram at the end.

#3 Add 5 dots before you hashtags

These are simply a space before a full stop, separated by so they are on their own individual line. For example:

#4 Add your hashtags after the dots

Take the hashtags you want to use and make sure they are added at the end of the paragraph.

#5 Add hashtags to your comment

Copy the whole text from your text editor and add it into the first comment of your post.

#6 Comment and hide your hashtags

All you need to do now is put that comment on your post. Instead of all of your hashtags coming up in the comment, they will be collapsed and come up as […]. This effectively hides your hashtags unless someone actively expands it.

How do I choose a good hashtag?

Music hashtags can be added to your content to help increase views and engagement. They effectively put your posts into a searchable category. This means that if someone searches for the hashtag then there is a chance your post will come up.

A good hashtag is one that is relevant to your content. If people search the hashtag then they should want to engage with you if they see your content. There are plenty of popular hashtags with millions of posts that can make it hard for you to stand out. This is why it is good to experiment with hashtags at different levels of popularity and also try your own branded hashtag.

Branded hashtags are a great idea because they tend to be unique to you. You can get fans to follow this hashtag and then it makes it a bit easier for your posts to cut through the noise. Using a combination of branded, niche and trending music hashtags could be your best bet of increasing your fan base.

What hashtags get the most likes?

How do you hide a hashtag on Instagram?

Hashtags give no guarantee of likes. For example, #music may be one of the most popular hashtags for music-related posts. However, if your post has no relevance to music then it’s not going to do you any good.

Different hashtags will generate a different amount of likes for different people. A branded hashtag may not generate a lot because people aren’t searching for it. It could gain more likes as you build an engaged following and grow your brand. Just remember to keep it relevant and don’t expect hashtags to magically give you likes.

What are the best hashtags for musicians?
