A brilliant night to kick off our list, All Star Jam Night is an evening of live music and one of the most tight-knit, positive, and active open mic communities in the whole of the UK.

Every Thursday, jammers get together, learn and play songs together with their peers and a supportive audience. You’ll find a house band here who you’ll be able to play with if you’re a solo singer.

Doors open for jammers to register at 8pm, the first jam on stage is 8:30pm. All styles and ages are welcome. An excellent stage, p.a, lighting, and backline gear are all provided.

You’ll also find a superb house photographer to take some great photos of you during your performance if you so wish.

The Songsmith Sessions is Cambridge’s longest standing open mic, and it’s also one of the best when it comes to original music.

Original songs are preferred here, but they’re not too strict when it comes to the repertoire that you perform. Everybody that comes to play gets to play.

This weekly music session hosted by Johnny Wright is every Wednesday from 8:30pm.

Wednesday sessions are a bit different from the other open mics and jam nights on our list. For this one, you need to contact Johnny Wright through the Wednesday Sessions Facebook page in advance to book a slot. There are only a few spaces scheduled each night.

The session is now at The Brook and normally has performances from some of the best local bands and musicians in town! If you’d like to perform send Johnny a short selection of your best material and he’ll get back to you with whether or not he can fit you in for one of the sessions.

Every week is very lively, so it’s one to work towards.
