When did Lewis Capaldi release his first song?
He later released his first track “Bruises” on 31 March 2017. But this was by no means his first-ever song. He began writing as a child, the first being a number called The Show Must Go On about the credit crunch. This was penned at the tender age of 11 and while Capaldi says it wasn’t up to much, it shows an early commitment to making music. His songs are melodious and often great as audition numbers, especially if you need an a cappella number.
Where does Lewis Capaldi come from?
He comes from a town called Bathgate, in West Lothian, Scotland – not far from the home of Britain’s Got Talent legend and fellow singer, Susan Boyle. This is around halfway between the big cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. He may live between the two but has often said he has a much stronger loyalty toward the west coast. He was born in Glasgow and lived there until he was four – so he often says he comes from Glasgow, as opposed to Bathgate.

When did Lewis Capaldi start singing?
Like many successful artists, the Scottish star began at a young age. He also learned to play the drums and is an accomplished guitarist. In an interview with GC Magazine, he talked about the first time he discovered this passion.
“The first time I played in front of a live audience, I realised I wanted to be a musician. I was about four years old and had always liked music […] I was on holiday at some caravan place in France. There was a band playing, but people could come up and ask if they could sing a tune.
“At the time I was obsessed with this wee Queen CD I got out of a newspaper that had “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions” on it, so I just went up and asked if I could sing “We Will Rock You”. Twenty minutes after, I went up and asked to do the second tune. That was the first time I figured out that I liked being in front of people singing. It was basically when I thought that I’d like to show off professionally.”
