How Old do You Have to be to go on X Factor?

The X Factor is a British reality television music competition to find new singing talent, created by Simon Cowell. The contestants are aspiring singers drawn from public auditions.

How old do you have to be for X Factor UK?

According to the ITV website, to go on X Factor UK you need to be at least 16 years old. If you are old enough to enter X Factor, but you are under 18 years of age, you must be accompanied by an adult.

Proof of age and identity may be required.

Simon confirmed his return as head judge and Dermot O’Leary will likely return as presenter. While the judges for series 16 have not been released, the judges for series 15 were:

  • Simon Cowell
  • Ayda Field
  • Louis Tomlinson
  • Robbie Williams

The winner of The X Factor is awarded a £1 million recording contract with Syco Music, part of the Sony Music label.

How X Factor UK auditions work

The first round of auditions is held in front of producers months before the show is aired, either by online application or at “open” auditions that anyone can attend.

There are two ways to audition for the X Factor 2019. Solo acts and groups can choose to audition in person or by uploading a video online, or you can choose to do both.

How to apply for X Factor UK

The X Factor website states, “Think you have The X Factor and are just waiting for your time to shine?! This could be your big moment… Applying for next year’s show couldn’t be simpler and you can audition either online or in person.

“If you’re a group or a solo singer aged 16 or over, then we want to hear from you!”

there have been 14 year old acts in the past… why do we have to be over 16 now?
