They have about twenty people on a typical night, with a featured poet once a month. Every Talisman is different, but on you might have a mix of traditional poetry, performance-style poetry or rap, short stories, skits/short plays, and even a song or two. Anything goes.
They’ve welcomed many feature poets who’ve gone on to achieve great things, but they’ve also welcomed people who’ve read here for the first time in public, and all are guaranteed a good reception.
Back in 2016, under the editorship of Annie Pelleschi, they published a book ‘Ten Swansea Writers’ featuring the work of some of our regular attenders. As a result, some of them were invited to perform with a poetry group in Merrimac, Massachusetts, and were published in their anthology ‘Merrimack Mic: the river widens.’
