In this article, we include:

  • Brent

Best West London Weekly Open Mic Nights

So, if you’re looking for places that support live music, there are plenty of fantastic West London open mics and jam nights to choose from. Here are our favourites, in no particular order.

#1 The George IV: London Unplugged Open Mic

Best West London Weekly Open Mic Nights
Photography: Tom Lukas

The George IV takes the crown as one of Chiswick’s best pubs, with a brilliant courtyard garden and plenty of live music on offer.

Full-time musician and former sound engineer Tom Lukas, of London Unplugged, provides the whole package for their weekly open mic night.

They use a professional standard full PA, speakers, a subwoofer and a stage monitor, plus lights and additional mood lighting also.  It’s no surprise that the sound is excellent, as Tom says, “It was actually one of the problems I really wanted to address with my nights, having done a lot of open misc a few years ago as an original artist myself.”

The night is an acoustic one, so performers are acoustic solos/duos (sometimes trios with Cajon). They provide a house guitar and keyboard on request via their booking form. The stage area is in the centre point of the main bar, visible from outside from walkers-by.

These events are run to the highest standard, a bridge between a traditional open mic and a showcase night, each act getting a proper 4 song set on a well set up stage area.

There’s a strong mainstay of key players at the session, from an ex-session guitarist, resident bass player/singer (Paul), pianist, and “the friendliest house drummer on earth”.
