Jake Hook is a singer, songwriter, producer and arranger. Jake Hook signed with EMI in 2009, on the strength of the single “Coming Home” by The Soldiers. To date Jake has had 7 Top 50 albums and has sold in excess of 4 million records in the UK.
Born in Camden, London Jake Hook was inspired to learn to play piano after inheriting his great grandmother’s piano. Due to Jake struggling to read sheet music as he suffers from dyslexia, he learned to play the piano by lying underneath the theatre’s baby grand piano, memorising how chords were formed and sounded until he could play tunes in his head. Jake Hook also plays flute, drums and acoustic guitar.
Jake Hook has worked significantly for The Soldiers, writing, arranging and producing their music. Jake co-wrote their first three singles: “Coming Home”, “A Soldier’s Christmas Letter” and “Letters Home”. The Soldiers debut album went Platinum within 3 weeks of release and their second album reached 200,000 sales a year later.
Jake Hook has also worked with many othe musicians including; classical pop super group Blake (EMI) , New Zealand’s Elizabeth Marvelly (EMI), FourNurses (Warner), The Chelsea Pensioners (Warner), Lexie Stobie (DECCA), Mary Jess Leverland (DECCA), Jay Picton (DECCA), Julie Atherton (Spekulation), and the 60’s icon Beryl Marsden (Cherry Tree / DECCA / Columbia / LBM).
