The Open Mic UK Music Competition

Open Mic UK is a national singing competition which attracts over 10,000 entries every year.

Singers for across the UK are invited to perform for our music industry judges, including representatives from major record labels.

All genres and styles of music are accepted, and you can enter as a solo act, duo or group.

The Online Singing Auditions

The Open Mic UK singing auditions will be online for 2020.

The first round in the competition is the audition stage, where singers will be asked to submit a short performance video for our music industry judges to review.

Singers can choose to record a video of themselves performing either a cover or an original song. You can accompany yourself with an instrument, use backup musicians, perform acapella or use a backing track.

Our aim is to promote artist development, originality and songwriting, so whatever you choose to perform, make sure you make it your own.

How do I Enter?

To take part in the Open Mic UK competition, you'll need to be able to record a video of yourself performing. You can do this using a mobile phone, with or without a microphone.

After you fill out the application form, we'll email you a link for you to upload your performance video.

If our judges are impressed with your performance, you'll be through to the audition shows, which will be streamed live on the Open Mic UK website, Facebook and YouTube channels, as well as our partner platforms.

The Live Shows & Grand Final

Make it past the auditions and you’ll win a place performing at the live online shows!

Our industry judges, along with the online audience, will vote to decide who makes it through to the next round, for the chance to compete at the Grand Final for a prize fund of £5000, plus mentoring and publicly packages.

Previous competition winners have signed to Capitol Records (Lola Young) and Atlantic Records/Universal (Birdy).
